After many years of being discontinued, D-Tech has re-released their M2-1001 replica front half-bumper that is an exact copy of the original. First made for Club M2 guys needing replacement parts for their genuine M2 cars, now you, too, can enjoy the most authentic M2-1001 front bumper.

FYI I paid about $1400 shipped to USA for a used D-Tech M2-1001 front bumper 3 years ago including the modified OEM urethane upper bumper portion. So ¥51,840 is a bargain!

Really cool that this option is back out there again. Personally, I'd still go with GHO if I wanted the 1001 front.

I'd be 100% content with a more original half-bumper if the factory bumper it was being attached to wasn't deformed and wavy where it meets the hood/feeders. Those seem hard to find unless you buy new.

That’s actually why I prefer the half bumper setup because the OEM urethane bumpers seem to be much more consistent in this regard. Aftermarket fiberglass full bumpers can be massaged to fit nice but fit and finish is more variable and dependent upon the skill of the body man doing the work. In my experience it’s difficult finding a body man skilled in this discipline. Most just do collision repair on modern cars. I could do this work myself but it is tedious and time consuming.

I also think the half bumper will be more durable, which is important to me since I dodge cones (and occasionally hit them) doing autocross. It’s less heavy and doesn’t sag as much and is better supported by the OEM bumper and bumper supports underneath. In my case I plan to actually make a carbon fiber version that’s even stronger and lighter.

the original m2 half bumper is wayyy heavier than my full gho nose. the gho front fits perfect and needed no work to fit perfectly. i have an og 1001 nose that i never got around to installing because i was so happy with the gho one

It makes sense that a full fiberglass bumper would be lighter overall than a hacked up OEM bumper cover with some internal support structure and a fiberglass half bumper. Which is why I’m making a carbon fiber one :-) Actually my plan is to make two: one for original Cibie Visage III driving lamps for street use and one with integrated brake cooling ducts where the lights would normally go for track days.

Not sure I know what you mean. Half of the factory bumpers I see have the top edge curling up at the hood and fenders. Mine included.

Where do you live? Could UV or heat exposure be a particular issue in your area? In my experience 95% of all fiberglass bumpers have fitment issues where they meet the OEM body. I haven't noticed the warping of OEM bumpers you describe. Normally I just see the typical dimples from the front license plate bracket.

This is by TRAP, but you could combine this D-Technique bottom with an RS Factory Stage bumper to get something similar:

That has a real streamlined look. But where are the front turn signals? Are there tiny LEDs hidden somewhere?

Reminds me of how hot rodders from SoCal don’t need windshield wipers because it rains so infrequently and if it did rain the car would be parked anyways because it has no other weather protection. In many classic sports cars, roofs and side curtains were optional! And they were only slightly more effective than driving while holding an umbrella.

Yeah but you wouldn't be able to rock two completely different looks.

The problem with the GHO bumper is its cheaply made, , and that weight causes cracking. Mine cracked, and I replaced it with a Kevlar copy. The original M2 part had additional strengethening bars. Addition of those would prevent the GHO bumper from cracking.
