Miataroadster short shifter

Got a chance to try out a friends extended version of the short shifter made by miataroadster. Has me thinking about replacing mine. I’d get one the same length as the shift on my 5 speed. Is anyone here running one? What do you think? Do these ever show up for sale used?

I’ve had one and it was the most transformative and pleasant upgrade I did on my Miata. I really wish it had been one of my first mods.

I’m still running the short shifter and love it. A lot. I’ve been thinking hard about the longer model (but not with the hook to place it closer to the steering wheel). I’ve only tested one in the parking lot (making vroom vroom sounds) but need to try one under load.

I had the standard height first on Warbird and loved it. Tried a tall angled shift extension and loved it more so I got the tall angled sts from Miata Roadster. Highly recommend either one but the tall angled was best as it put it closer to the steering wheel.

They do show up for sale used on occasion. If looking for a part I have always found a want to buy ad very effective at getting such a part.

I want to run a Tan Nakamae center console delete and the angled short throw on the BRG and I would be complete.

I got the kit but I wanted the stock height and no bent crap because that’s for you young whipper snappers

I like the kit and installation is pretty straightforward, however because I wanted the normal size it’s considered a custom order. Apparently I’m one of the few that like my shifter straight and not bent at an angle. Once installed it felt harder to shift and Bill warned me it won’t feel right FWIW. And he was right, so I ordered a second one but 2” inches taller than stock and it shifts great now. Second one is straight as well not bent either lol

I agree with you I do like the feeling and look of the stock shifter but for looks purposes I think the angled kit is a little more focus towards vintage styling which is what I am after.

i like mine

I do want to change mine up soon to get the straight shifter, and not the one that looks OEM (i.e tapered).

dont know if this is the case for everyone else but for mine, it requires slightly more effort to shift gears compared to the stock OEM shifter

@BRGNA8: The OEM height sts definitely requires more effort to shift than OEM as does most short shifters which I presume is because of the moving of the fulcrum point.

The tall version is a good deal easier to shift than the standard(OEM) height, Steve, which I can attest to from having both versions. I think the tall version would look awesome in your BRG!:bow:

I have the MazdaSpeed short shifter kit.
Used it some with oem-length of shifter. Loved it.
Added a GarageStar extender.
I prefer using it with the extender. :p

I have the MS A-Spec shifter to very notchy yet smooth at least to me.

Yep - that's what I wanted to go for as well. Tall - no taper - straight, with the mini anvil sphere from moddiction.
