Hello all!

Can anyone help me by identifying these seats? I know that the base is a standard Miata unit, but I can't find where the black leather covers are sold.

I was going to say that the door panels look like Katzkin (and the seats might be as well), but...

Not quite. So, my guess is that these seats and doors are custom created by someone's local tapiceria.

It's custom.

The construction of the stock Miata seats are really unique because the top layer on the seat and back aren't connected to the bolsters, they "float". This allows an upholsterer a lot more options for style, techniques, details and tailoring.

It also allows you to use different densities of foam and heights.

Yeah I would say custom as well. The seats look to be done like the 911 SC seats.

Whatever they are, they're beautiful.

That interior looks real classy, very subtle yet everything's been tweaked one way or another.

There is a Miata here in the Dallas area that had a local shop make custom leather seat covers and they came out great... I plan on having the same shop do something special some day.

For what Katzkin charges, it is tough to beat going custom. Best way to find a good upholsterer is to ask your local hot rod or muscle car resto fans.

Most of the aftermarket seat cover providers (Classic Soft Trim, Katzkin, LeatherSeats.com) will do custom treatments for a small surcharge. Tufting, pleating, different colored or different material panels. One might do themselves a favor by pricing them against local upholstery shops to find the best deal.
