View Full Version : Miata Ram Air Kits?

I come from the American car crowd so just wondering if anyone makes a ram air kit for these cars? Most of the kits I see look like they just remove the air box and stick a cone filter by the exhaust header? I would rather have a ram air setup or something to rig cold air into the car. Ideas, DIY stuff you have done or link to a ram air kit?

Which year/chasis are we talking about here? The JR kit is an interesting configuration, but the plastics used are crap and tend to break.

with NB, you can use the Autoexe/Gruppe M intake kit, but it's even more expensive than the JR

In cases like these, I would say DIY is the best option. But if you can find a good deal like George did then jump on it

looks like his profile says 1997 Miata LOL ;p

Racing Beat used to make one. Looks like all they have now is the "U" shaped intake.

Well there is the "Randall Cowl", but I don't know if it will work on a NB...

Whoa, super rare. I guess that's where Jackson Racing got the "inspiration"?

The cowl intake kit would work great for you http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?deptid=&parentid=&stocknumber=05-27000 , when at speed the cowl area is a high pressure area so it grabs cool air. You can even make your own for much cheaper although it won't look as good.

If you ever have the misfortune of hitting a light pole at low speeds and hit your front left corner to smash your headlight then you'd have the excuse of removing the whole assembly to make an intake duct to work in conjunction with your RB high flow intake.... like me.

It's kinda rough I'll admit.

I had that idea years ago when the new FM2 came out but for some reason I decided against it. After all the work I'veput into my intake, I should have went for it.

Here's mine, similar to the AutoExe setup, just a lot cheaper.

A 90degree PVC pipe with a few couplers and clamps with a cone filter. The throttle response is amazing and the sound is awesome. Here is a quick video, don't mind the video quality of it, it was mostly meant for the audio since it was snowing out while filming it lol

I will try to get a video of it hissing at idle.

I did the same thing that psulja did and the it came out pretty good with no tucking or anything. It sits right behind the passenger side headlight. It hisses at idle and growls when you really get on it. Just make sure you clean your TB often because of the increased volume of air.....

I cleaned out my TB a couple months ago and didn't notice it any worse than normal? And the car has had this setup for over 10 years I think.

that FM interfooler is pretty badass. I'd love to run that with a surge tank/airbox over my ITB's. IAT's are an issue

I'm going to say it.... I dont like it. I'm sure it would mean +10 internet cool points but it just looks cheap.
