I'll start at the beginning.

I bought my 1991 mx-5 on november 13th 2007, at that point it had 205 000km's on the body, and having had a short nose failure the swapped short nose had 180 000ish. It also had a diff failure, which is why it has a open 1.8 diff. Other non stock things were eibach springs and a mighty big exhaust leak.

Here's a photo from a week or so after I bought it.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2013/2068190581_1b4bd97c59_o.jpg

My first priority was getting a new exhaust for my 5. From reading the forums it seemed Goodwin was a good source, so I ordered my racing beat header, and power pulse catback from him, and on a cold December day I installed my new header and exhaust outside in the snow.

Did some other misc stuff that winter like new speakers from Mb Quart, oils, racing beat air intake, when summer came around I installed the beat up OZ's that came with the car.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3268/2422377323_056a27babb.jpg

My shocks went out and my budget not stretching for new everything ended on a set of Tokico Illumina's.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3094/2422370391_7b7e9a7610.jpg

Rev9autosport was running a sale and my first exterior purchase was a set of Runabout M2 mirrors.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3099/2651344970_d91207647f_b.jpg

I also needed new brakes, and I contacted Steve @ planetmiata and got a good deal on the parts I needed.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3154/2658501658_bde26e732c.jpg

1.8 mounts, discs and hawk hps pads.

Clubroadster had it's influence on me, and I ended up buying a garage vary front lip from Rspeed another great miata vendor.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3078/2721796157_d410e4d6f4_o.jpg

I also bought a set of 205/50-15 r888s and painted my old winter wheels black, and looking back at it, it looked quite cool I must say! :)

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3070/2722611494_49e0597ff4.jpg

I found a ARC chamber used on a british forum (for mr2s mainly, someone on the british nutz forum tipped me off! :)) and it made its way to my (dirty) engine bay:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3076/2808600152_671e6fd4c0.jpg

A few other parts made it way to my car like new sway bars, runabout fuel lid, euro NC turn signals with chrome ring.

Another winter photo, it's now January 2009.

My brother got me some nice redline goods interior parts for christmas, and I got myself a new steering wheel, a Key!s racing d shaped wheel in suede, mounted on a daikei hub. Maxime @ rev9autosport gave me a better deal then anywhere else would. :eagerness:

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/IMG_3887.jpg

My old CD player died and with it a Roots cd :( So I searched for a design I liked and found this used on ebay uk.

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/IMG_3906.jpg

I also purchased side pockets and interior door handles from Zoom Engineering :)

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3307/3250369015_8b1bb2cb00.jpg

And these shiny Sheoneme (yes, thats their actual name, haha) tow hooks! Rev9autosport :slayer:

A final winter shot to rap up winter of 08/09.

You can also see Kolbotn's silverstone here in it's early days of life with Frode :)

I need to stop procrastinating, so I'll return to this when I get bored of writing my paper (Which is due in 8ish hours)

I did not plan to get flares so soon, but Steve/sideshow/mr planetmiata had a set of Jubiride flares up for sale at a good price. I purchased them mid winter or so, and started researching what kind of wheels I could fit with the tire size I wanted (225/45-15) at that point there wasn't a whole lot of others running them (and still, not many) I was looking at one of my all time roadster muses, the frogeye-jps NA which if the data I found was right is running in this photo:

Wheels: RS Watanabe RS8 R Type
F) 8-15 0
R) 8.5-15 -6
Tires: A048 F) 215/50R15 R) 225/50R15

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2359/2237898583_c5ff1575f9.jpg

I got my tires, 225/45-15 Toyo r888

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3360/3331303072_fd85606cee.jpg

I got my wheels, Compomotive ML 15x9 0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3552/3486499336_a504951de7_b.jpg

Had to try them on the day I got them!

Inspiration

I went with black flares, mostly because it would be easier then red and a few inspirational cars on clubroadster made it the colour I'd try first!

JDMAflac and Driftz both with autokonexion flares in black on red.

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c219/JDMAflac/IMG_2078.jpg

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f132/philip89/phil2.jpg

And on the red-red side, Quinn's oh so awesome tuckin-work-yokohama-awesome setup and rotornuts smoothed autokonexion setup.

Flares painted black, installed and out enjoying it!

Also bought a set of Kg works TSI's from Bratfass a german with a great smurf blue NA.

There are some misc parts I'm not mentioning I'm sure, but here's a few of my favorites, this is 09-10.

Kg works switch panel, Stack oil temp and cd player in the ddmworks cage/holder/thingy.

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/gauge2.jpg

And a bad photo of my revlimiter gauges, he added some nice touches that I wanted and I love the way they turned out. Revlimiter :slayer:

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/junijuli2010185.jpg

Found a good one Adam shot himself! I have a new set laying next to me because of a few small imperfections (that's Adam, awesome service) and have had for some time, I'm so slow and I'll be sure to spend some time shooting them when I get to it!

http://revlimiter.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/DSC_6473-500x331.jpg

Valve cover got done while I had it off for timing belt, water pump and some other misc stuff.

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/valve2.jpg

Steering rack depowered, in addition to the steps in FM's tutorial I had the input shafted welded, so there would be no slop. A great modification! I changed the tie rod ends for the r-package ones, to help minimize bumpsteer.

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/steering-rack1.jpg

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/steering-rack2.jpg

New bushings in all arms/uprights/etc, a proper pain in the ass with loads of rusted cambolts. Fresh ones installed.
Alignment numbers:
-2. 20
-5.40 caster
-0 toe

Volk racing something something lugs. They're purdy, that's all. Rev9autosport yet again :slayer:

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/lug2.jpg

Mishimoto radiator, almost forgot about this one, stock brittle end caps cracked so I got the mishimoto radiator from Miataroadster, another great miata vendor!

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/motorrom002.jpg

Purdy endlinks from yet another great miata vendor 949racing!

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/949endlinks.jpg

I'll end this post with a photo I really like. Automn at it's best.

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/garagestarparts.jpg?t=1320969024

Some good quality parts from Garagestar!

Zoom eng blinkers, as can be seen in photo number three

No photo but I also have a 1.8 lsd, a 6 speed, 1.8 clutch waiting for me to get new diff mounts, half shafts, engine mounts and a lightweight 1.8 flywheel...

And framerails from p5 in Britain.

I have plenty of plans but little money. I'll try to get a few new things for it in 2012 also.

Vegard, I've always loved your car. It's a nice balance between clean and classy. I think it'd look good with a bumper that looks like it'd come from the factory with it. I'm thinking something like this (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f123/CE28N/random/IMG_1697.jpg), I think it's Jubiride.

Thank you morr! I've been drawn between two looks lately, race ish or stock/vintage ish. And the jubiride is kind of a nice middle ground between stock-ish and race.

I've been drooling over that orange thing since foo-potato posted their photos...

And this thing, Jubiride flares, jubiride front with splitter, feed sides and cool breeze looking OH SO BOSS: http://cdn.mkimg.carview.co.jp/carlife/images/User/476300/p1.jpg?ct=fb3fb1b0e7a4

I've been keeping half an eye on the british forums, as there's a few HKS kansei bumpers floating around over there. Short way to ship so loads to save, but I've been leaning away from it lately.

M2 are high on my lists. Both 1001 and 1002

I like it, but not with the other plans I have in my head unless I find a bargain which is highly unlikely. The damn brits have been pricing their parts like their gold, what a change from when I first started looking in 2008 till now, I'm sure you've noticed it... :(

This is high up on my list, at least if I aim for less vintage looking and more race: Garage vary with flush lights (http://mkimg.carview.co.jp/minkara/blog/000/024/359/423/24359423/p1.jpg)

Framerails reinforcement thingies installed!

A couple of cell phone photos.

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/1-1.jpg

A good working height is a nice thing when you have banged up framerails that need a good beating/straightening.

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/5-1.jpg

Landing:

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/2-1.jpg

And installed:

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/3-1.jpg

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/4-1.jpg

Drilled, tapped and used a nut for extra safety when remounting the fuel/brake line holder as the old hole does not align after installing the rails, and bending the old brackets a lot would surely weaken/break them.

Feels solid, and seeing how cheap they are a good buy. Took some time though, but most of that was used on the banged up framerails...

First photos then some text, I know how I work I always scroll to the photos first then I read!

Got this of ebay.co.uk thanks to Samuli that sent me a link as he knew I was looking for the garage vary type 3 front bumper! Hugh thanks again Samuli!

It arrived in described shape, I gave it a quick rubdown and lick of paint, the paint leaves lots to desire, but I hope to save up enough for paint this season.

I've got a good amount of rust on the drivers side and that will need to be taken care of as soon as I can afford to or sooner.

Got new tires! 225/45 bfg rivals, I've only driven on them once so no feedback yet.

That looks really good mate. You should post on nutz more mate as your car looks hot. If you had told me before you were going to do this I'd have said NO (but it does work really well). Good job.

Thanks mate, I like how it's coming along as well! More stuff to add before I'm happy with the exterior though, I'm thinking feed style side skirts, a small splitter for the front and cut the rear bumper with a new center exit exhaust. Then I'd be pretty happy (just lacking s2racing tails, GV hood and trunk lid)

New wheels, old ones are sold.

Very pleased with the way the new wheels look. Suits the style I'm going for better then the more retro comp's.

Thanks guys, it's getting there! Feed style sides on the way, I have new panels to fix the rust laying ready. Want to make a splitter for the front bumper to match the feed sides.

I've also installed a 11lb 1.8 flywheel that I got from dkwolf, and a stock 1.8 clutch setup.

A few photos, of my car in it's current condition. Excuse the poor quality of the photos, poor lighting.

A volvo backed into my front bumper, which sparked a change, I cashed out on the insurance (~$1000ish) and started acquiring the parts I want for it before I go in for paint.

I got some craftsquare mirrors but not a 100% on if I run them or the runabout m2's now. Painting the craftsquares black. Also in the photo autokonexion wide front fenders.

My trunk lid from Marlon! The fitment is very nice and the finish is great, having a Garage Vary front and hood, I have to say the quality is very similar. I will post a full review and better photos as soon as I have my car out in the sun. :8):

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m111/Vegardsk/trunk.jpg

A cool detail of the Garage Vary hood, the end line is exaggerated, something I didn't see before I had the hood in my hand.

Hoping to get the sill rust fixed and paint started sometime late this month. But seeing as my rear fenders are not here yet, and I have some things to fix early may is more likely. Colour? not sure yet.

I too am excited! I'm dragging my ass, and I'm aiming to get it into a paintshop within 2 weeks.

Here's a list I made that might help people.

-Garage Vary Type 2 hood quality: 6
-NUE rear overfenders quality: 4.5
-Autokonexion wings quality: 2
-Craftsquare mirrors quality: 6
-Marlon trunk lid quality: 6

My other aftermarket body parts:
-Garage Vary type 3 front bumper quality: 6
-Feed style sides from mx5parts quality: 6

Miss this thing 😶. Hello old and new roadster peeps 👋✊

Sold a few things when I got tired of the project, but most of it is still there. Sold: gv front, jubiride flares, trunk, autokonexion front fenders.

Your wonderful trunklid Marloon got a great home on a friends roadster, 🤟.

Maybe this summer (or next I will resurect it)!

Dreaming of slighlty wide front fenders and rear NUE with the wedssports and m2 1002 or 1001 front. And with my s2racing tails, gv hood, garage 502 mirrors.

Anyone know of any nice front fenders? Or very subtle flares?

I have seen these body kit with separate front fenders that are still available for NA's:

and

I'll second these, they look cool. The first two from DGM and Offline Racing look pretty ugly (no offence.)

These can actually be purchased now? I thought it was a collaboration that only ever produced a few sets and they simply kept them on their site, for whatever reason, with a out of stock notice? They are really sweet.

These are great, I remember when they made these, but as greasemonkey pointed out, it was at that time a limited run.

For really wide rubber these would work, but a bit to bubbly for me. Thanks though!

We were talking at KINOD before quarantine about Sonny's build because I thought he got one of the few sets made. Could almost swear @JonB said you could still get them but may be totally wrong about that. Just checked and he just said that they're still showing on the website but the things they don't have show out of stock so
