some guys in the uk are making an mx5 to be used by disabled people, and they have come across an article on the M2 1031 'phantom roadster'
that has been adapted for wheelchair access...

there is very little information out there, so i just wondered if any of the JDM gurus on here had any more links or articles floating about?

any help would be appreciated as its all for charity.

Hello hooligan, a little late & this might not help much, but these pics of it were recently brought to my attention by an MX5Nutz forum member:

Wish I could read Japanese! Apparently it came with a high output 1.8L from the track special M2-1028 & if ya look carefully at the shot of the roof seal, there's something special going on there. While I'm not sure how much info may be inside; according to an online version of the index I ran into, apparently there's also mention of it on page 131 of the book "Miata 20 Years" by "Larry Edsall". (checking page 131 online found no mention) As a wheelchair bound NA owner/driver, I'd also be happy to provide other help possible regarding retrofitting hand controls into most any vehicle, Miata's included. Generally they're a bit simpler than what's pictured above as well.

On a different note, I'm currently trying to track down Matt Clark of a former outfit titled: Matt Developments and/or Dandy Cars, the former which has been described as "a now defunct UK MX5 hood supplier". Being disabled I'm also required to operate the top from the driver's seat. Ages ago he designed a strut-assist setup that apparently made the process an easier task. Unfortunately my shoulders aren't what they used to be & I'm hoping to mimic his design before warm weather returns! FWIW, I've already got the info found at the bottom of this page: http://freespace.virgin.net/mx5.mike/matt/ , have tied him to the MX5OC & this Alfa forum: http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-gtv-and-916-spider/192857-spider-hood.html . If anybody has further info I'd be greatly appreciative, as otherwise I may no longer be able to put my top up!

PS - where's my sig? I'm guessing I've not enough posts or some such?
