Been thinking how I want to do my exhaust and I think i have a cool new idea but im not sure if its been done before. my idea is to find something like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-ANGEL-CUTTER-KNIFE-STYLE-EXHAUST-MUFFLER-CIVIC-ACCORD-PRELUDE-TSX-TL-/190662438742?hash=item2c645def56&item=190662438742&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr

hopefully i can find something of better quality than this junk....
and pair it with this
3am burned out at work sketch.

(my car doesnt really smoke like this, i just wanted the added effect)
and come up with something cool.
I want the muffler to sit at almost a 45 degree angle to the rear of the car, but the turned down tip would be facing strait back so it would come out of the car strait.
thoughts? input?

Shit, I know there is someone either on here or CR with the turned down tip. I just can't remember who it is, but I see his build thread quite often. I'm pretty sure it's custom though. Lemme spend a little time searching for you and I'll get back to you.

Edit : Here's one, but it's not the exact one I was thinking of.

A certain Miata on here used to have that very same muffler.

I guess I was wondering if anyone had mounted the muffler rotated 45 degrees so that the round exhaust exits parallel to the ground, and not down towards it.
Thanks for the video and info so far.

Oh so not a turn-down, but a turn-sideways kinda thing? I didn't know that's what you meant.

Yeah just get a muffler shop to make a tip for you or something. Shouldn't be too expensive.

well im not really looking for someone to make me a tip. couldnt you in theory just run the cheapy muffler i posted above rotated sideways? maybe it would be too short, but im not sure.

Just rotate the muffler a bit and have an exhaust shop weld it on and you should get the look you're going for. I think it might actually end up looking pretty good; go for it!

Mine is like your first pic on the first post. I did it several years ago to allow the spare to be put under the car.
It's got a bad idle drone. I added a resonator just after the cat to smooth things out.

Cool idea OP, I did this a while back on my Civic (EP3)

I recently went back to the OEM mufffler on my NB but I plan to have them weld on a stainless steel or chrome turn down tip with that sideways "slight upturn" deal.

i welded on just like that on vplukas's car. Look over on clubroadster for the so long gay boys build.
