After having many NA's, and NB's it was time to go with the MSM, Mazdas first boosted factory car, I had read many threads so I knew what I was getting into. I knew what mods that I wanted to do to keep the little 1.8 running for a good long while. After looking at many MSM's and color choices, VIN history I decided to get a Black Mica, all stock unmolested car. I found a car that fit the bill in Ohio, I had a friend in the area go take the car for a test drive and give me the low down, and additional pictures, it was perfect for me at this time in my MX-5 life.
The MSM as I received it from its northern home:

After a test drive, I knew that the heavy 17" Hart wheels had to go, I had kept the wheels from my 10th AE and they had brand new tires, a great improvement, what a differecne 15" wheels made.

Next was to fix the broken power antenna, and replace the factory fuel lid with a shiny one.

I had a plan on getting rid of the surfboard seats for some 17 year old friends that I had sitting around from my 1995 M, recovered in darkness and cow-skin.
Plus with the seat addition I could add my tonneau that was hiding in storage.

That is one classy MSM! Very tasteful upgrades. I would have ditched those Racing Harts and ubly rubber antenna first thing too. Not sure about the chrome fuel lid though. I have a pair of 95M seats in my closet and am waiting to find some black cows to make them look like yours but thanks for the preview of what they'll look like.

you need wider wheels or spacers

Yes I know, been working on that, the stockies are 16x6.5, maybe go with 15x8's, but picking the right aftermarket wheel is a task, I have been looking @ Work, Rays, BBS, Weds, Cromodora, Borbet, Ronal, Enkei, maybe some vintage Fittipaldi's......and the list goes on. But they need to be polished, and light, and not seen everywhere!!!

These are the ones that I want: 3110

The headlights are kinda like the go fast stripes, at first I did not like them, but they have grown on me, plus I have a new set of MSM headlights (plus all the other OEM items that I have taken off) to put back on when she is ready for a new lover; Well just a soon as Martin sells me his 1991 Silverstone Italia w/93LE interior................hehe!

Excellent build!

Please please stripe the lower lip and back bumper. The US-style partial stripe job never looks right on a Japanese car.

Thank You Adam, I have already checked on matching the stripes, or removing them (no sure which direction I will go).

For your 95M seats, where did you get black trim pieces? Like the side parts and the 2 pieces the headrests go into?

The 95 Merlot. This was a special edition thing for the Merlot ONLY. These are a tough find and come with a price to match.

The black headrests sliders came from England, the european MX-5's came with these seats for many years, I got the wheels from a wrecked 1995 M, the car was in great condition with only rear end damage!! So the wheels were close to mint!

The black side plastic pieces were taken from a wrecked 97 with black cloth interior, and I did the english ebay thing for the black headrest sliders...........
