Been doing some stuff to the car...reinstalled the original mirror, removed the nasty/broken radio antenna (and plugged the hole), restored/rechromed the original steelies, also had new barrels put on them that are slightly wider (from 4.5in to 5.5in) and put on new 185/65/15 Yokohama tires. The tires that were on the car were over 20 years old and dry rotted. One of them may have been the original tire--it still had an inner tube!

Had it up on the new Garage Woolery lift for a bit...

Now that it has new tires, I finally took it on the freeway for the first time. The car cruises nicely, the alignment is good, the car tracks well...all in all quite an enjoyable drive. Next on the agenda is to reinstall the original wipers, steering wheel, and see if I can do anything with the oxidized paint. If I can't get the paint to look nice, I'll just rely heavily on the "patina" euphamism until I can afford a proper paint job.

I think the car is about ready to make an appearance at Cars & Coffee now. I'll have to introduce myself to the Porsche guys there, hopefully they won't bite. :)

The car looks awesome. Nice to see it coming back from the garage it sat in for so long.

Quick question, the lift you have, did you get that locally or somewhere online? I am starting to look for one for my garage.

So cool. Not only the car, but the lift too! And besides that, the beautiful California weather...and that chair swing!!! So much goodness. Congrats on the car's progress.

So much to love about those pics, that chair looks especially nice after a day of wrenching.

This has always been my dream car. Except mine would be a convertible. Looks great!

You have to settle for a soft window Targa or just a Targa. Cabriolets weren't offered til the early 80s.

I'll have to settle for just looking at one. I don't think I would be able to afford one. Got too many other things that I have to take care of before this.

They're starting to get pretty cheap man, I (my dad, whatever) bought my 911 back in 07 for like 2 grand. fixed her up for less than 5 grand total.

Not to mention these things have bullet proof reliability. I got 290k on the clock and still running like a champ

^ You got a short hood. We're talking about longhoods. pre-73 911s prices are going up.

MR. W, the 912 looks spectacular. I still remember your original thread when you were first offered this car. Couldnt have gone to a better home IMO!
