So I have this thread on CR... but I just had a very looooong PM conversation with AF_stew who's the new owner. Their entire methodology in dealing with members is assbackwards. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna jump ship, thinkin I'm I'm gonna put in a little more effort to make this my home.
anyway, any questions will gladly be answered.. might be a couple gaps in the story telling of the build, but in short. While I was on leave Okinawastan was hit with a giant typhoon and my car flooded. Thought it was done for good. I was wrong.
So, I gave up on the Miata scene a while ago due to many reasons. It was slow, I was broke, I had shitty luck with cars, and I was pretty inexperienced with them not to mention incredibly lazy.
So I destroyed my first miata, fixed it right up, learned a lot on the way, and sold it for more than I bought it for, and put into it for fixing it. Stayed low on purchasing a sports car for a while.
Then I came to Japan, the land of the skyrine. Not gonna lie, I was smitten by the idea of owning a skyline and rubbing it in all my friends faces. After going around and driving everything from a GTST to the GTR from R32s to 34s. Not my kind of car, they are big, they are heavy, they are expensive, and every doucher has one. Not to mention they are all incredibly ugly (after getting over the nostalgia).
So I went looking around for another car, decided to get an FD. I waited for months for the perfect FD, one with a straight body, as stock as possible, and no rust. Finally found out, picked it up for 4 grand (guy I bought it from had a mutual friend in common and gave me a great deal).

After 2 days of ownership, I was driving down the roads here (roads here are made of coral and seashells, I shit you not. The slipperiest thing EVER. Blew an apex seal and my engine immediately siezed and I went sliding into the median hitting the front end pretty hard. Got it towed to the local shop and negotiated with the japanese for a good deal. They quoted me a mind numbing 6 grand to fix. God was on my side as an FD just got junked 4 hours later and I bought the car whole from them and told them to use all those parts, selling the excess. Bringing my quote down to 2 grand overall after expenditures and selling of extra parts.

Spent the next month going to the shop everyday with the japanese and helping them with my car, they got mostly stock parts and they asked me if I wanted to throw anything else in. I found two RB26DETT turbos, decided to slap those on and bought a Power FC to go with it so the whole thing doesn't blow. Once they got the motor in, and the suspension fixed up, we still had to find a front end. I hunted down an original Bomex fiberglass bumper, it was craked down the middle because someone curbed it, but I patched it and had them paint it. After finally a month, I got my car back. I fell in love immediately with the FD.
After that, I obviously got Mod fever, I bought a used OEM clutch (I hated the sporty 6 puck with a passion) because I love streetability and comfort in a fast vehicle, I don't need no hardcore stripped race car. Fuck that noise. Got a lightened flywheel.

Met a couple local forum members and had a huge garage day, it was pretty awesome. (180s are the dominate scene out here).

Got some tires, but hated my wheels. I had 17s BBS wheels.. they were curbed to shit from the PO, and they really bothered me. And the worst part, was the fucker spray painted over perfectly good BBS wheels... -.-
As you can tell in this picture, they're pretty curbed to shit.

Finally got some of the mods done, and touched up the paint a little here and there and did a detail, and here is the resulting shoot.

Then had my first track day with the FD and it was glorious and fun. Got destroyed by an old fatman with 12 years of auto X experience in his Subaru Legacy that was stock except for Hoosiers.

Then just bought these TSWs from a forum member on rx7club and they should be getting here in a week... but I won't be in japan then. I'll be partying it up with my SoCal bros!
they're 18s x 8 and fronts will be using 235 and rears will be on 275s. NT05s

Having some more problems with the FD, I got a wheel bearing acting up, and I have an AutoX coming up, and I need to get that fixed before hand. Got a weird vibration that just started coming from the rear towards 46kmph, but it'll be there sometimes, then it wont. Weird, but not critical.
Still haven't fixed my damn window switches (flood fucked them up, windows won't roll down).
Suffers from a couple misfires, she will completely miss a couple ignition cycles and she will drop back until she fires back up again and it just launches forward. She only does that when she's cold, never hot. And it's rather bothersome. Probably plugs.... Pain in the ass.
Anyway, good news. MY WHEELS AND TIRES CAME IN TODAY!!! WOOO!!!
And since I'm not exactly ballin in cash and I don't have a larger vehicle. I had to figure out how to transport my wheels.. and I did it.

After putting on the wheels and going on for a drive. The NT05s are ABSOLUTELY FUCKING GLORIOUS TIRES. Such a change from my shitty bridgestones. I love the low hum they make while driving and they grip like a fat chick getting pounded by jean claude van dam (when he was drop dead sexy).
Went grocery shopping, and couldn't help but snag a couple pictures with my iPad of death. I'm very excited for my next autox event.

Very rare RZ 93' wheels... apparently I've asked around for their value (since I'm not sure) but I've gotten numbers from 1400-2200... so I'm pleasantly surprised. The PO spray painted these wheels and one is curbed to hell and back, and another as only a slight curb. I will be dropping them off at a local rim restoration shop and I'll try selling these.

Another little update, haven't really done anything to the car. Mostly just gathering up funds, I'm making a HUGE purchase in two weeks so I'll surprise you guys.
Anyway, two weeks ago I ordered a single turbo-kit from a japanese website. Anyway, I was stoked, it came with everything I needed, oil cooler, lines, larger IC, Injectors and all that good stuff. Anyway, I go to pick it up because I hear they finally have it in stock. And I got robbed man. I should have taken a picture but didn't get a chance. They provided me a half ass china kit, with a turbo that has the inlet that couldn't fit my pinky if I tried to put it through there. I swear it was like a turbo for a Kei car (google kei cars for those who don't know). I was pretty enraged, but it seems google chrome translate isn't the best in the world and it's partially my fault. The shop was cool enough to give me a "partial" refund. Still had to pay for shipping and handling and an "inconvenience" fee. So I got something like 1400 bucks back. Anyway, back to the car.
Anyway, so I went to the Autocross today. I took a slight gamble since my wheel bearings didn't come in, in time. Decided I could go ahead and beat the shit out of my car. There's a giant nut holding the bearing in place should it decide to disintegrate it won't exactly fly off. Anyway, so I did a couple rounds and had a blast. Got fastest lap of the day. And then my wheel wobbles horribly. I pull back on base to the shop to take a look. Tie rods have just gone to shit, and the little pinion shaft thing there the bearing gets slide onto suffered some pretty severe gashing (don't know if you can tell in the picture). I put an order in for new parts and should be getting those shortly. Before you ride my ass, I made this decision and I knew the consequences and I was totally cool with it.

Picked up a couple temp parts for the moment, frankenstiened together from friends and she runs perfectly for now.

Anyway, here's a vid of the Autocross. Did fan-fuckin-tastic. And more seat time really does pay off with cars. Keep getting better and better. But the more I went out, the more my times suffered. I can't roll my windows down and I'm not about to run with AC on. So I'm out here in 100% humidity at over 100 degrees doing these stints in a hot ass car. Sweating my balls off. After about 5 runs, I could barely stand I was so dizzy and dehydrated.

And my last little picture... Japanese expressways fucking rock. It's just like europe. They have a slow lane and a passing lane. If they see you coming up from behind they move aside. I was literally just blasting my way down the road passing NJPs and shit and it was totally awesome.
