hey ya nc's
im gona start this thread... because there have been no new ones in the nc section for too long. AND i just got my fenders rolled with some interesting notes.

first off... who has their fenders bent? anyone? did you manage to get a full wheel well roll on the back? the fender roller i was using kept getting hung up on the caliper. i did not want to remove the caliper at the time so i only got a 3/4 roll.

also my rear fenders had about a 1/4 inch rubber/plastic booger layer on them. this is not a fender liner that can be unscrewed like the front. just a layer of semi-hard glop. just lay on the heat and it will bend with the metal.

speaking of fender liners, the front fender liner goes AROUND the front damper. so... get some scissors. still pops back into place the same way after cut and i have not noticed any flopping or catching since i made a cut in the fender liner.
the cut was made right behind the damper as to minimize cutting area.

so yah... no more tire string cheesey bits after canyon runs.

Not an NC owner, but the rear roll usually isn't important to roll the entire wheel arch.
The rear wheel doesn't articulate like the front does. If you can roll from 10 to 2 (like the numbers on a clock) in the rear, you're going to be fine. I have seen people get away with less.

yah i manged about 10-2:30, and i was at a super minimal rub. stock ride height though.

Old school fender fine-tuning, SOCAL style...

Steven, did that actually work?

Yup. It flattened the lip and pulled the fender evenly.

BTW, that rear quarter damage was already there when the car was purchased.

No heating up of the metal? How many magazines did you have to use?

These fenders were rolled first. The magazines were used to pull the fenders. Kyle, the guy on the left was the Kinod fender-rolling pro.

For shits and giggles, this is Kyle's current car:

honestly i have no idea. the only evidence i have is the sound of rubbing and 1/8in slivers of tire hanging off.

tsingson, i did not even need to heat the 3 out of 4 fenders. i only used the heat gun on the first one because it was my first ever fender roll.
thats a plus for rolling fenders in the middle of summer.

put some tape on the inside of the fender lips. look for wear/rubbing that way and adjust as necessary.

First post. Yah!

I have a NC, 17x9 RPF1 with 245/40 front nad 255/40 rear.

I rolled my rear fenders, the front I don't have to. My car is lowered around 4.5" at pinchweld. I haven't autox yet, but on HPDE, no rub so far.

You have to remove the rear caliper to get more roll done. At first I only rolled enough on the top thinking it'd be all good. I went up an incline and my tire was rubbing. The sharp fender slided a small string out of my left rear tire.

I'd say if you run 245 or smaller tire, you can get away with a minor roll.

yah thats what i understood when i was researching 17x8s on 235. that i would only need a slight roll. i will eventually lower my car a bit. too much 4x4. but when i do that i will try to re roll and remove the caliper.

Oh, in that case, unless you're running hella low, you shouldn't have any problems except for with the rear fender lips. I'm 17x8.5+40 with the same size tire, and that's the only problem I ever ran into until I dropped the car to a 1/4" or less of fender/tire gap. Then, my front would rub the fenders only slightly, and rub the fender liners A LOT. I trimmed the fender liners before I showed the car at Formula D 2 days after I dropped the car on Tein Flex's only to end up raising the car another 1/2"-3/4" because my car got stuck on a speed bump that very same weekend, lol. I'm sure if I had stock bracing underneath, I would have been able to roll around like that all day, like Emxfivesssshhhh (I dunno the actual spelling). But if you have aftermarket underbracing, like I have all Beatrush bracing under my car, don't slam your car. It won't work, lol.

wont be swapping suspension any time soon. just dont like seeming tire slivers hanging off my car. im sure its more than enough for what i was getting.

So... this? lol. This is what made me realize, yeah... rolled fenders may be a necessity. There's no feeling to describe seeing this on your brand new $200+ a tire Bridgestones.

I didn't go as far in the rear because of the caliper too...thought i'd be okay but when going up ramps from the street i hear it rub all the time and sometimes it sounds like crushing cans.
