alright well i have needed to start a build thread over here for awhile now and well i laid my bike down recently and have been stuck in the house off work so i have the time to now.

i highly doubt i will go through all of the phases of the car but ill go over it a little and i guess keep adding to it as it goes.

Alright well here is the car as i bought it a couple years ago. from the previous owner. it had a jackson racing supercharger on it. it also had the large tupperware kit on it and well i liked it at the time.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn173/turbotylaa/DSC00359.jpg

i love the cars performance in the winter but as summer came around it had some idling issues and heat soak and would die sometimes and well i got a good offer on the supercharger kit so i removed it and bought bc coil overs and some konig feathers.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn173/turbotylaa/DSC00571.jpg

the car stayed like that for awhile until some dumb lady decided to merge into my front end. which really made me mad she lied to the cops and well i ended up paying for it all. sour subject but im over it now.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn173/turbotylaa/2011-03-09_17-50-09_751.jpg

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn173/turbotylaa/2011-03-09_17-50-17_913.jpg

sometime in there i sold the feathers and bought the n1 concepts because well they were light and looked pretty good. Also bought carbon fenders.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn173/turbotylaa/2011-03-16_18-49-29_233.jpg

plasti dipped them and removed the tupperware.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn173/turbotylaa/1302037371070.jpg

then i bought a mazdaspeed miata lip and had the front end paint matched. Also i took my headlights apart and painted them black and installed some 55w 3000k hids.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn173/turbotylaa/1310681396056.jpg

i fell in love with the mazdaspeed like front end on my brg.

then i polished the n1s

well then i guess we come to this stage in the project i decided against a turbo and well decided that i want to engine swap the miata with a klde v6 fromt a mx6

i went with the klde over the z because i plan to boost it later and the lower compression would help. plus i got the engine for a good deal.

here are some photos of the rebuild.

here are a few randoms of the miata during all this. got metal fenders again and painted them and painted the concepts white and then candy orange. But i painting them back white agian soon. i just love playing with the paint gun and learning.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn173/turbotylaa/2012-02-13_18-53-33_199.jpg

i think they looked best on the miata white. so thats what color they will be going.

and now back to the v6 miata. i have notched a factory sub frame for more oil pan room. and i have mocked up the v6 into the engine bay. i originally planned to make a custom intake but i think i am just going to hack up the stock one for now and just get the car to run.

sorry for it not being in order i just tried throwing this together because well im bored haha. but its getting there. ill hopefully have the new subframe welded up soon and get all the suspension painted and swapped over soon too.

so im wanting to have it running in the next month or two. but as i stated i just wrecked my motorcycle so i have to give a little bit of time and money to it. but anyways shit will buff out i hope you guys like the idea of this swap. i originally bought this car to ls1 swap but i think this v6 should be awesome it has a very impressive exhaust note and is very rev happy. so with a turbo i should easily be able to hit 300whp and that is really all i need. after that the trans and the rear will have issues. i have plans for them also but that will all come at a later time.

turbotyla
07-19-2012, 08:12 PM
here is another random shot that i love.

klde mated to the mazda 6speed.

Also i am running a stage 3 clutchnet 6 puck disc and a flyin miata fm2 pressure plate with the engine. i also have delrin differential mounts ready to go it. And with the motor mounts i made out of poly it should be a fairly stiff set up and hopefully get about 160 rwhp out of the klde. i can do headers and small performance upgrades later.

the most important thing is to just get the engine in the car and running then ill start making it make some more power and then eventually a turbo. or supercharger i havent decided yet. maybe even a procharger. just to mix it up.

Well I was banned from clubroadster so I plan to frequent here more I just don't know if I should update this thread or not

I am sure there are people watching but not commenting...sorry to hear you were banned.

Glad to see you doing something different engine wise. And of course I love to see another BRG

turbotyla
10-01-2012, 06:49 AM
Yes brg is the best haha.

And it's not just the commenting. I just don't know if I want to start all over. My build thread over there was 3 years old.

Im sure that I will start to update and get more frequent over here. Clubroadster has changed too much. The mods ban people left and right. My ban was pointless. And I have been over there for nearly 4 years.

As far as this project goes I lost some motivation. But I will be moving it to a new location. I will be renting a garage from a good friend and it has far more room than what I am working with now. Ill have some updates soon.

And when I finish Thia build I think I am going to build me a decent garage at my house also.

I hear you on the garage...I have a 2 car, and I am trying to figure out a way to get more room. I don't really need a backyard, right? It doesn't help that I am pretty addicted to mazdas, I was eyeing the SA's and FB's yesterday.

Oh and CR is pretty different than the good old days.

turbotyla
10-01-2012, 09:58 AM
Well I currently am using my fathers garage. I bought a house last year that does not have one but I have a decent yard.

So I am thinking about a 24x36 building in my back yard. I would set it up with its own 100 amp service, lift, etc.

It may be a year or two away but im 22 and already tired of crawling and laying under cars. especially my nb its obnoxiously low. So the plan sticks ill rent this garage a few streets over for awhile until I decide to build my dream setup. The garage I will be renting would fit 3 Miatas. So it should be nice.

Now on to the v6 swap. I have just purchased a second hardtop. It is classic red with the liner and defrost. I will use it on the na until the nb is road worthy. Then it will be painted brg. And then sold when I fastback my car.

The v6 build is at a crawling pace because i have been slacking. I need to make the oil pan/pickup here in the next week or so. Then I can move on to the intake and all the small things in the bay.

Where did you score that top from? We picked up a merlot top in springfield for my dad's car last week.

And that sounds like a solid plan on the hard top switching..

Oh and the fastback is going to be awesome!

The top I used to own and got it back from a family friend. It was in absolutely perfect shape. Came on an 04 and was used 2 times before the car was totaled and it was not on the car.

So ill paint it and then my other hardtop I may sell. And then eventually sell this one too.

And on that note, wouldn't a kit for this swap be nice? A guy can dream...
Def in for mire updates when you have em.

turbotyla

I got the adapter from a lady in the uk who has kit cars that use this engine and the miata transmission.

And I thought of making all my parts twice but I don't have the garage to. So this is a fabricators swap.

But hopefully it catches on. And someone makes a kit

well i have been a little busy but today i spend some time on my oil pan. Here is the first design.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn173/turbotylaa/2012-10-06_13-41-25_674.jpg

decided against it because well it had too many seams. So here is what i ended up with today. I will start the pickup/baffles here in the next couple days.

turbotyla
10-27-2012, 11:25 AM
Yea it has been a while my oil pan has went through a few different models.

I have also moved the car into a bigger garage at a friends house so more should be getting done to it. Once I get the oil pan done, everything after that should be easy to knock out.

I have told myself that I will not rush the swap. I do not want to do anything twice so I am doing each thing how I would want it done and sometimes that requires spending more money than I planned. Which does not bother me.

It just takes a little longer. But I think in the end it will be worth it. I have decided that the car will get a centrifugal supercharger. Still have not picked one. It may get a rotrex or a vortech. But that will be after it has been running for a while.

The car will still be a street car but it will get full Aero and a simple interior. And will get tracked.

WOW this Thread needs some updates. I will just leave this here until i get some more time to update.

Thread title needs a change too. The v6 is no longer mine and jessie From Warhorse Performance purchased it from me. And is taking to a level i could not of. I copped out and went ls1.

Ls1 with 243 ls6 heads. Gmpp yellow springs. Ls2 intake,injectors,rails.

Also i am going with a insane wheel and tire setup. Its going to require some cutting and flares.

Here is where i am at with a flat roll so far. Its going to need more. 17x9.75 +20mm with a 235/40/17 but i plan on going to the bfg rival 245/40 if i can.

Hey thanks.

As far as the v6 swap I wish I wouldn't of gave up. Because the v6 is so nice.

But it is in a good guys hands now. It will still be completed by warhorse performance. Look them up on Facebook. I will have their fastback and diffuser on my car.

Jessie is one hell of a guy and awesome to deal with. I drove to Wisconsin to meet him and it was great. He has knowledge and resources that I didn't have. And he is taking the v6 build to a whole different level.

Like I said look them up on Facebook he is actually planning on a few products for the v6. So if your really interested in it. There's where to go.

He should be updating the build soon. I think he is planning a high revving na build but I don't know. I cant really say too much. :) you will just have to find out soon

MiataMatt
06-13-2013, 08:16 PM

turbotyla
06-13-2013, 08:43 PM
Thanks man. And if you look more into the v6 swap it retains the factory transmission and rear end. And they are very awesome engines. I just had to notch the subframe and make an oil pan.

I would almost look into seeing if jess is planning on making a oilpan because the v6 is in many ways better than boosting and it had so much room in my car. just some thoughts. ill keep bugging him to release what he is working on. on the facebook page. Me and him keep in contact .

here is my lame attempt at a microsoft paint chop of his fastback on my car haha

Do the welds on the v8roadsters oil pan bug anyone else?

turbotyla
06-14-2013, 01:56 PM
Its actually a kevko racing pan. And I agree you would think that some companies would clean their products up a little.

But. Honestly the rest of the pan looks great.

LostSoulMiata
06-19-2013, 09:17 AM
Function > Form usually wins in the engine department. I'm just anal like that, especially if just the pan costs upwards of $500+, I would expect "dimes" on all the seems. I'm at about "nickles" on my welds right now, but have yet to use TIG.

turbotyla
06-19-2013, 10:27 AM
Yea I am a welder myself. But on train cars. And I agree.

But after making the last pan and fabricating and welding, 60 hours a week. I gave it a shot to buy this one.

I agree with you. Although I will say it is welded inner and outer and has the diamond baffle. It is a nice pan. But even mig welding you can trigger some very impressive welds especially in clean metal.

Also lost soul I'm glad your still around the miata community. It reminds me when I first started over on cr. Net now that place has went down hill.

And I sold my bike also I'm taking a few years off on riding.

My bike wreck opened my eyes to a few different view points on things. So long long story short.

I'll wait a few years and re evaluate riding. I love it and miss it. But I can admit that I need time to think on it. And my happy wrist.

Maybe a pit bike to rip some wheelies in my yard or something until then haha
