Swapping the engine through the bottom of the car - any thoughts or advice?

I'm thinking of swapping my engine this time by dropping the front suspension with the motor. I've seen it done twice on youtube and it looks like it takes about half the time and really prevents the chance of damage to the body. Has anyone done this yet? I only know one person locally who has done it...so any advice would be appreciated.

I've done this with a buddy of mine. Took about four hours, but, he has a lift in his garage, so that helped tremendously. Good luck.

I find it much easier, especially setting the engine mounts into the subframe without having to lean into the bay. Also makes it a 1 person job.

i had a firly easy time installing my new motor by dropping it into the car. just need one person underneath to steer the transmission into place

I do engine swaps all the time, and I always pull it up.
I have removed the whole suspension/PPF/engine, but its not as easy.
I do these by myself, but I also have a full shop. (ie cherry picker/tools)

One thing i forgot about was when installing getting the steering shaft in the u joint can suck, that may negate any gains.

Great advice guys! From what everyone is saying, going through the top is probably the easiest way to go. I have access to all the right tools although my primary helper may be moving before the job. Either way it'll get done. Thanks again to everyone who replied!
