I was very close to going with red carpet when I chopped my dash. But I thought it might be too much red with the dash and door bolsters wrapped in red, too.

I did the carpet with the intention of keeping with a three-color palette. I didn't want a monochromatic interior and black/red is too heavy (visually) in contrast. I also don't really trust a lot of interior paints for durability, so I committed on the carpet and will accentuate the interior over time.

There's something really cool about the ambient light the red carpet creates, especially when the top is off and the sun is shining. I don't prefer red in my peripheral vision (dash) while driving, I find it a little too distracting, but less so when done in monochromatic format.
