I have been lurking around here for quite some time. My name is Ryan, and I have had quite a few mazdas.

I had been enjoying my black NA8 for almost three years now, when I saw a curious ad for a 91 BRG. I had been looking at other miatae for at least a year at this point, I was bored with a black car, and mine had some rust. I had done most of the things I set out to when I picked it up, and I didn't have it in my heart to fight the battle with rust. The ad didn't say too much, but the photos looked very nice.

So I took a drive with my girlfriend to look at it on a Saturday afternoon. Well the car looked better than the ad portrayed, plus the seller had all the extras: Hard Top, soft top boot, tonneau cover.. While I was driving the car, my girlfriend said to me, "You haven't looked at one this nice in the past year, you are going to buy it, right?" "When you say it that way," I said, "I guess I can't really argue." Now this isn't the first used car I bought, and I know he's had it listed a few weeks...but I couldn't even haggle with him. And honestly, I would say I still got a deal.

A couple of images from that day:

So I have a few things in mind for this car, but honestly I just want to drive it and enjoy it. I don't dislike wrenching on my cars, I just don't have lots of time for it now. Plus I lost all of my buddies with access to air tools and lifts, so I need to build up my tool set as well. And after looking back at some questionable things I did on my previous miata, I am going to try and remember one thing: do it once, do it right.

I was at a dealer when they got their first one of these. Sharp car then, sharp car now. I know you'll do it up right.

And definite keeper with the gf...

Kind of sad to install the hardtop, but it had to happen sooner or later.

Looks like a pretty sweet deal, I love BRG. I've contempalted painting my white one the same color, something so sexy and attractive about it!

Looking good. Some nice retro touches, always suit a BRG model.

Polished would be awesome! Whenever I get an NA, I'll probably go with a polished roll bar. It really compliments the 'retro' theme.

For some reason I did not realize Mr Woolery's pitcrew was repainted, it was originally white. Of course, he did a proper color change. It is such a lovely color on miatas..

Plenty of retro styled cars around here to draw inspiration from.

I just wish they weren't all the money.

Thanks for all the kind words and input, guys.

As far as a roll bar goes, I was thinking of a silver clear view bar (half the price of stainless) with a custom stitched tan leather cover for the main hoop for mine. But than there is something to be said for subtlety, all of my upgrades are not visible(mostly chassis stiffening and suspension) because I like the classic look. Your looks great with the hardtop!

^Thanks!

Not sure how I feel about the darker turn signals, but I needed the wiring, and they were pretty much a deal:
