So this weekend I was finally able to mount the glass to the custom fastback that I've been working on for quite sometime now. The fastback originally started out as an Autokonexion fastback...but then I made a lot of major structural changes and made custom compound curve safety auto glass for the top. The changes at first seem visually subtle, but really take the fastback to the next level. When it's done, it should have an OEM quality look to it.

Now that the hard part is done, the rest of the project should quickly fall into place. Just a little bit of finishing work here and there, and it'll be ready to go to paint!

Yeah, the side windows are also changed, and are now compound curve auto glass.

Is the trunk somehow a separate piece? Looks like the trunk will open and close?

Wasn't this a one piece unit and you lose the use of the trunk, or maybe im thinking of the Garage Vary or warhorse version?

Mr. Woolery, anychance you can disclose the info about the glass? like where you got it made and how much it costs? i think it would be a great idea for others to be able to get real glass instead of the stuff autokonexion offers for the fastbacks.

Looks awesome!

Does the bottom of the rear window make contact? It looks like the bottom edge is curved.

The quarter glass was custom made by a glass crafter who has since retired. I do have three sets of these pieces (two spares, one prototype) which I may consider selling. However, the existing glass mounting area on an AK top would need extensive work to fit them. The existing base must be cut out and rebuilt/recessed in about 1/2" to allow for the new thicker glass.

Yes, it does. I rebuilt the entire rear of the fastback to incorporate the curves appropriate for the rear glass piece. It's one of the major structural changes I made to the stock AK fastback. The stock AK fastback has flat, narrower mounting surfaces. My rear window is approximately 6" wider overall than the AK window, making the Spoon-style lines on the back of the AK top into the new point where the glass edge lies.

Since you are doing custom stuff anyhow, have you considered making some integrated rail rails like the spoon sports hardtop has? Just an idea...........

Do not want...it's too modern looking that way, and I think it'd ruin the original curviness of the car.

I was just thinking about your glass project.

Very much looking forward to future updates! (with paint!)

Amazing! The fact that you took such good care of the body lines of the car is fantastic. From every angle, it just fits! Great work!
