Before...broke crank - bummer dude!

Now where was that new motor? I know it's around here somewhere.

Now what do I do first? So many choices, so little time. Actually, I have two full days to complete it, a free driveway and two great friends.

5733

OK, a bit of it's gone. Now let's take out some more!

5734

Breathe deep...out with the bad!

5735

Wait before we keep breathing, let's swap the 90 standard parts that must be there to the 93 Automatic motor - throttle control, alternator bracket, motor mounts, oh, clutch, pressure plate, flywheel and pilot bearing

New motor ready to go, 8 hours into work - now breathe again - IN WITH THE GOOD!

The finished product took 16 hours with three people. 16 full man hours, about 4 additional when helping hands were needed. The wiring harness is different for the throttle control for an automatic versus a manual. After a quick turn of the key the motor fired right up. First thing's first with a rebuilt motor, check for leaks, let it idle until the lifter noise goes away and do not rev the engine! Note that the lifters in a relatively dry engine will take up to three hours of idling to completely pump up and adjust. I discovered an injector leak on number four. I was able to fix it by just pulling the air valve. Now, 430 miles later I've run the rpms consistently to 4500. At 500 miles I'll be taking them to 5000, at 700, to 5500, at 900 to 6000 and 1000 to 6500. Dispite being .4 lbs less compression this newly rebuilt motor is pulling strong, quiet and running smoother then my brand new 90 back in 89 when I bought it. The long nose will provide my little show car wanna be with life well beyond 500,000 miles on this chassis. If you have any specific questions, just hit me up. How you enjoy the pictures! Happy Thanksgiving day to all!

Just curious, but why'd you install another 1.6 when you had the option of installing a 1.8?
