A couple days ago it dawned on me, I'm really glad that I live in Florida. Seriously, I can drive my car year round, top down and not feel like I am being forced to drive my car.

Where are some of the interesting places that you live and do you have to store your car for the winter or do you still try to get it out in the snow? I know, Florida has spoiled me.

I didn't drive my old BRG for a few days 2 winters ago.

I have my summer Miata and my winter Miata. A Miata with snow tires is always a good time. Every time it snows I try to make it out to do some sliding around. In last winter's thread I posted some videos of sliding the Miata around. Will probably have more this year.

Is that this year already, Shane?

I did not store my black miata, it was rusty. My BRG isn't so no winter miata fun for me...once I sell the black one.

Now what about the 'warmth' with a soft top?

Not a problem. Every Miata I've owned has had a fantastic heater. I drove my '96 all year when I lived in Nebraska & Iowa without a hard top.

anyone know how well an open differential fares in the snow/ice? i wanna try sliding around in it when and if it snows; got studded tires from last year.

I always thought I had an open diff but now I'm questioning that and will have to double check. But if mine is open then it really isn't an issue, a tonne of fun can still be had.

And I've purposely put my car in some deep snow and have yet to get stuck.

The downside to driving a miata in the winter is the RUST. At least for me... the miata is tucked away already. The funny part is that I don't have a real garage, however I do have a large shed. (Her little cave!)

I drive mine year-round since it's my DD. I hate winter itself, but being able to drive the miata and do some "drifting" in parking lots makes it more tolerable.

Yea, I guess that would be my concern as well especially with the salt.

I finally moved to Denver, and the temps have been in the mid 60's during daytime! I'll use the Taco 4X4 when the winter arrives!

Indiana here. :)

Miata gets stored the same day they put down the first salt on the roads. So far, the Miata is still out. Once it snows/salts, the Cherokee goes back to being her full time DD, and the MX6 is mine.

Are you stilling getting rid of the Miata? BTW, still love the mx6. I search craigslist everyday.

Nah, the MSM is sticking around until at least the first half of summer i guess. Then i'll re-evaluate the situation.

Now that i have another Miata project, it seems stupid to replace the MSM with an MR-S, since my fiancee is the one driving the Miata the most at this point. (I think drove it maybe 5x this summer.) She likes the MSM better than an MR-S, but thinks she might like an RX8 better than either. So after our trip, we'll test drive some RX8s and see if she likes them enough to want to switch.

The MX6 is a beast! Can't wait for spring, i've got a new clutch and meth injection for it. Gonna see what it does on 30psi. :D

THe 4 or 6 cylinder MX6? I had a 4 and loved it....might have enjoyed it more with a 6. All of the reviews on the 6 cylinder were great.

Yep. I think the Miata will be an HX35 or HX40 setup, probably in the 25-35psi range.

I really don't like building cars, and the cost it would take for me to hand something over that i'd feel good about someone else driving would probably be a bit higher than you'd expect. :P

I'll be documenting the entire build including budget so all the n00bs posting up about doing a swap nobody has done before or a swap in general can really see what they're in for. This will be about as cheap as it gets if you don't have the ability to weld/fab. (I don't.)

I got a few guitars, a tv, xbox 360 gears of war edition, a mini fridge full of beer, a camera (dslr), and 7 grand. Can you put this in my car? :D

I'm not missing out. See, it still sucks for you guys up north because of the salt. Down in Florida, we have something equivalent to snow. It called dirt. It is just as good and I don't have to worry about the salt.

Dirt, Sand, Grass. It all works the same. The only benefit is that there is no salt.

Huh? Sand is over 33% salt! How could you not know this?

It snowed here in Denver between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The high for Sunday was 18 degrees... Luckily it will be in the upper 50's by Wed, and 40's today and tomorrow and that I can actually handle!

Arriving in Tampa for vaca on the 19th close to midnight. I could use a good barefoot run @ Clearwater Beach!

Will you be paying for the difference? ;)

Shoot, I'm just glad it's a DIRECT FLIGHT! When I lived in the "Indian Territories, (OK)" I had to connect thru Dallas or Houston!
