I sold my track car this summer to get a funny roadster! I am really happy to found this used car in really good conditions. All services are known, only two previous owner.

I baught it in Germany (I am French), the car has 122000km and was produced in April 1993.

The car will stay stock, through the time I will change all what needs...

Next step is timing belt, oil & oil filter, cooling hoses change.

Hi! Still waiting for selling the Artec wheels (grey and red painting). So I put the summer wheels of my daily driver. They come from a nice FR machine well known in Europe. The Renault Clio 16 valve (1.8L 138hp).

I also installed the jass performance licence plate mounting bracket.

The OEM wheels have been sent for paint job, the colour will be the original one.

Thanks guys,

I won't lower it because for European roads I prefer to keep the complete abilities of this car!

I found the stock suspension stiff enaugh for road use. Even If my shocks are 20 years old and a bit tired ^^.

I changed the Shift boot for an alcantara one, It's hand made by Piotr MOSON http://mosonpiotr.com/joomla/ it's the last part he still makes for the Miata. He works mostly on Lotus interiors (full alcantara interiors ... beautiful).

The gummy part is also damaged, I will change it later.

By turret oil you mean the short amount of oil just under the shift lever?

Is it the same oil that is in the gearbox? (I made a Gearbox oil change last year)

KYB AGX shock absorbers
Eibach springs-35mm
Flyin Miata rear shock mounts

My previous experience of aftermarket shock absorbers was Bilstein B16 on my BMW, I find this setup not so far from the Bilstein compromise between confort and performances.

Ride height is perfect for me, I hate slammed cars because I feel scared of damaging the car by hitting the ground and everything...

CAS O-ring is a good first check, and likely the cause, but in my case, I had oil leaking from the interior of the CAS itself and had to replace it. I guess 220k miles will do that. Also check the rear of your valve cover gasket, but if that goes you'll usually have oil seepage over the sides of the engine too.

CL Brakes brake pads. RC5+ compound all around with stock 235 & 231mm rotors.

http://i19.servimg.com/u/f19/11/82/89/36/img_3611.jpg

These pads are simply awesome, you can destroy everything around the pads, it will be the last part to weaken through the braking system lifetime.

It also avoid any fading or vibrations on the steering wheel.

And Cocorico!!! it's a French brand well known in rally and endurance races.

http://www.cl-brakes.com/en/

The single disadvantage of this compound is that the wear of the rotors is high. (around 5000km). So you can use two set of rotors for one set of brake pads and you finally wear your second set of rotors at the samt time you wear the initial pads set.

Givent that I won't drive so much in five years it is ok for me.

Today i bedded the brakes.

During the first 20km after a slow warm up I had some unbalance making the car going on the right side during heavy brakings http://r28.imgfast.net/users/2812/56/35/30/smiles/458565.gif

No impossible I spent so much time changing this that I can't have done something wronghttp://r28.imgfast.net/users/2812/56/35/30/smiles/822958.gif

I went to my local shop and the guy said, I have to go on bedding... He was right!

This time 50km more to do a correct bedding, after warm up the unbalance disappeared and I was able to make heavy braking without tyre smoke just by hearing the start of the tyre singing, It's a perfect landmark indeed! http://r28.imgfast.net/users/2812/56/35/30/smiles/651683.gif

Then I went back home slowly to cool down the brakes, but I noticed something wrong:

-rotors overheated
-I was not able to let my hand on the rear wheels, on the front was able to.

Rear rotors:

http://i18.servimg.com/u/f18/11/82/89/36/img_3914.jpg

Front rotors are homogeneous and look ok:

http://i18.servimg.com/u/f18/11/82/89/36/img_3912.jpg

The handbrake screws are loosen, I don't understand the reason I had this residual braking on the rear. http://r28.imgfast.net/users/2812/56/35/30/smiles/151152.gif

I have to say that in the global world of tuned track car most of the people are interted by fitting tons of parts on their cars...

Ok it makes sense but we often forgot to improve also our driving. Whatever the coutry you live i can juste advice anybody to do that even once a year.

The best thing is to focus on the bad details when you take a corner, after practice you feel how the car behaves perfect in that curve and make your cornering speed as it should be in a perfect world...

You get the rear brakes sorted? I had to adjust mine both times i did my brakes, once on my nb1 and then my na8, and you are supposed to tighten the parking brake hex screw or whatever you wsnt to call it just enough so that the rotor doesn't turn easily and then back off on the screw 1/4 to 1/2.

Have to get a set of those nuts soon... Car looks great and the wheeled platforms seem like an awesome idea. A quick question, where did you get the coolant hoses from? Are they OEM, and did they come as a kit? The only option I could find in Europe was the Stoney Racing silicone ones...
