This time its all in my hands

Well let me start by saying this is my second 1994 Mazda Miata (NA) . The 1st one I brought for $900 it was lauguna blue and needed a massive about of body work . I didn't mind that because plan was to build a drift car that would only see the street to and from events . Well that didn't last long because well the car drove great and and i was still learning the in and outs of this little roadster . This is what she looked like when i got her home .

A little bit later i decided it needed a little something to make it stand apart .

Paint the stockers and add some new lug nuts .

The rear finish panel was cracked up so i did a little work on that as well .

Then the car needed to get lower so i brought some cheap racelands to get it closer to the ground .

But that wasn't enough so i needed some wheels to roll on and when these popped up forsale i couldn't help myself so i bit the bullet .

Thats pretty much it i did a couple other small things to the car and drove it for a while . Then sold the SSR's and picked up a set of Hoshino's that i had plans to build but i sold those as well .

Well after a while of thinking what i wanted to do and picking up a replacement rear quarter panel i decided to scrape the car and start with a clean shell .

This is where the story of "Project" starts .

Fitted some wheels and got the height where i wanted it .

Drove around like that this past summer all while thinking of what i could do this winter . Well i had this little bomex bumper sitting in my attic and i thought it would be good to put it to use so i made a couple mods to it .

This is where it pretty much ends during the summer i made it out to a couple shows and there were some very nice pictures of the car taken. Here they are well maybe just 2 that i have saved .

I'm in the process of taking the car apart and doing a little smoothing out of the body before i shoot on some color . I'll keep this updated as i go with some pics .

At first i was going to do a matte tan but i couldn't find the right color tan so i sorta went the other way and i'm going with a matte teal ( I'm kinda done with all the wax and shit before a cruise/show shit) figured this would be great color . I'm hoping its on the darker side of teal.

Thanks for the compliment . No big news yet got a couple pieces in primmer and i'm working on the hardtop now . The PO of the top was in a side impact accident which cause alot of damage to the passenger side . I fixed it one time but i'm going back to do a little more work on it to make it closer to perfect . I'm also thinking about adding a roof wing, not one held on with double sided tape but something built into the top it self . I'm also trying to figure out if it would be possible to incorporate the 3rd brake light into it instead of just mounting it to the back window . I'm going to be picking up some clay to play with then going to glass over it straight to the hardtop .

Ok here is the update that has been in the works for a long time . Just ordered my ISC hood to complete my front end hopefully it will be here by the weekend so i can start the body work on it and get it into primer and test fitting all done . This was one of the last major pieces i needed to get in order to get the car assembled and ready for paint .

There will be headlights just not in the normal place and not where the front bumper lights are either . I'm going to try and get a test fit picture up of the hood and new bumper should be pretty sick .

Well i got the new hood in on Friday but didn't have a chance to install it till this morning . The car isn't going to look like your normal miata ,I've pretty much turned the exterior into something that i'm hoping others will see the hard work that i have put into it . This wasn't/isn't just a bolt on type of build .

Thanks guys i need to pick up some sheet metal to make a new radiator cowl and figure a mounting solution out for the head lights .

Here is a small bit of what i've been working on for the last couple days . Its a bracket for to hold my headlights . I'm doing this all on my own with just a cut off wheel and a vice when needed . Right now i'm just getting the shape for the most part , I plan on hitting it with a spot weld and then using some epoxy resin to smooth it out and possibly a little bondo to make it look like it belongs more . Still have to work on the driver side but here is a couple quick pics i took .
