Orlando Caravan to Miatapalooza

So I figure it's time to organize an Orlando Caravan for the all time Miatapalooza 2013 (http://mazdaroadster.net/showthread.php?5289-Orlando-Caravan-to-Miatapalooza).

All the info you need is below

WHEN
April 6, 2013 at 10:45AM. We leave at 11:15AM, no later than 11:30 at the latest.
(Leave time can still change, any updates will be posted)

MEETING WHERE?
CVS Pharmacy
6790 Central Florida Parkway
Orlando, FL 32821
(It has easy access to I-4 South, and less traffic than meeting on Sand Lake Rd)

From I-4,
• Take Exit 74A for Sand Lake Rd
• Make right onto Sand Lake Rd (There are two lanes for making the right, you want to be the left most lane since you need to get over to make a left hand turn at the light)
• Once you get to the light, you will want to make a left hand turn onto Turkey Lake Rd
• Go 2.8 miles and make another left onto Central Florida Parkway
• The CVS will be on your right hand side after going under I-4

From 528/Beachline
• Take exit 1 for International Drive
• Stay left – Follow signs for Sea World
• Make a left onto International Drive
• Go under the 528 and go to the first traffic light
• Make a right onto Westwood Blvd
• Follow Westwood for 1.3 miles until you get to Central Florida Parkway
• Make a left at Central Florida Parkway and then make a right into CVS parking lot.

Take your time. 528 would be the nice way to go but I still waiting on a answer from Amway. If they grant me permission to use the garage, we have access to I-4 right out of the parking garage. it the best meeting spot I can come up with. It convient with access to 408 and I-4. I will keep you inform what what is happening.

I couldn't agree more.......that is, AFTER Tampa Bay Miatas! :lol: Another option would be to meet up at a mall parking lot. Look forward to seeing the #2 group from Florida in Lakeland! :)

Update on where the meeting spot is at. Read the first post for time and location. AND remember to Subscribe to this thread.

I trying to put a small caravan together and I found a meeting spot but what time should we get there? 11AM maybe. I figure cars will start showing up around that time.

Please please please do not show up early, please arrive at 12 noon or later just as it states, we will be running around like crazy people setting everything up. There is no rush to get there so just take your time. Please let everyone know you will not be able to park there until 12noon the only ones that will come before that time is the vendors setting up the displays and booths/tents.

If you happen to arrive early there is a huge Super Target parking lot 2 stop lights north of Hooters (left hand side of road) that can handle 1000 cars very easy. Or the Lakeland Mall that is at the same light on the right hand side that can handle 10,000 cars. hahhaha If you want you can park there and start to head over at 12-noon that is fine.

Just use Google Maps and type in Lakeland Mall. and you will see a HUGE parking lot.

In case anyone is interested, I have a route planned out for the ride home. I figure taking the back roads of Florida would be nice instead of speeding up I-4.

I figured out a map that is based around the eastern side of Green Swamp. If you have any comments or would like to tag with me, your more than welcome to join up when I leave. It nice to take the back roads. Plus it has twists and turns so it should be fun.

Update, will lay out some basic rules for the convoy. No speeding, no reckless driving, and no running under any semi trucks. We have a decent turn out of cars coming and it doesn't look too bad either. If any one is interested, I have a route planned for the ride home. Anyone is welcome to ride along. See you all tomorrow morning at 10:30. We leave no later than 11:15.

Also, someone brought this to my attention. IF your coming from the Daytona area or North of Orlando, you can get off Exit 72 which is the 528 Toll Road. You won't have to pay any tolls when getting off Exit 1 on the 528. The offramp goes straight into a intersection. Go straight through and you will be on Westwood Blvd. That will take you straight to the CVS which will be on you right hand side.
