New Club starting in the Daytona area

Hi everyone. My name is Charly Sems and some of you may have heard on Miata.net that I was interested in starting a new club for the Daytona Beach area. I've had several people email me with interest in a local club. There was also a suggestion about joining this site to get the word out better.

If anyone is interested, please email me directly for more info. If any leaders of the surrounding clubs would like to offer support to help us get our local club started with ideas for events, drives, or any other helpful info, I would certainly appreciate it.

I plan to be at Miatapalooza Saturday. I'll probably be the only Shinsen with Tennessee plates and Scenic City Miatas club magnets. I recently moved to the daytona area and I'm ready to see what this area has to offer in Miata fun.

You are more than welcome to post all of your meets here on the forum to help get your new clubs feet off the ground!

The first order of business is going to be voting on a name and design for the logo. As soon as that happens I'll forward that into on to you so you can add us to the club page. There's lots of people contacting me about it so things should progress quickly. I'm looking forward to getting it off the ground and getting some events started.

I finally got a Facebook page up. Our official name is Daytona Area Miatas. As soon as I find a restaurant to meet at I'll post the info for our first meeting. If anyone knows a locally owned restaurant that is centrally located and has plenty of parking, please let me know.

Our first meeting is set for this Tuesday, May 14 at 7pm. We are meeting at Lime Fresh Mexican Grill on the corner of international speedway and Bill France, just past the big Daytona Beach sign in front of the Daytona Speedway. The manager has agreed to close off a section of the parking lot for us if we have enough cars. If you are planning on making it, please go to the Facebook page and let us know so we can get an idea of how many to make room for.
