View Full Version : 949 End links

Couple of questions :
Are 949 end links and Supermiata end links the same product? (I'm pretty sure they are, they look exactly the same and sold from the same website)
Also, could I get a picture of the end links installed to a front sway bar? I just installed a RB 1.125-inch OD tubular bar and I'm just a little bit confused with the adjustability of the end links (not the height) and the 5mm/10mm spacers. I read the directions on the 949 site, but I don't really understand how much the spacers would affect it or where they go. Would it be fine without the spacers?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, they are the same product, but with minor updates. I think the spacers are just there to make sure there is an even load across the entire mounting hole. I have the first generation of endlinks, and don't have the spacers. My car hasn't blown up yet.

Then again, I could be wrong. Hopefully Sonny or Emilio will chime in.

Thanks man, I think I'll try without the spacers for a couple days or two then switch to spacers if I feel like they might make a difference.

supermiata is the name of miata specific products.

No difference between ones that say "949Racing" and "Supermiata" in terms of the construction of the endlink itself.

The spacer hardware that come with the endlinks are there so you can have your endlink stand straight up and down if you look from the side of the car and the front/rear. This will provide the freedom of motion for your sway bar to function without binding, which is the point of getting these adjustable endlinks to begin with.

In other words, use as many spacers as you need to get your endlinks to stand straight up and down and adjust the height of the endlinks to be perpendicular to the sway bar.

I wish mine came with spacers. :(

You can order the hardware if you need some on 949racing.com.

Oh okay I understand, so you just want to make it so the end link is like 90 degrees up and down, and not tilted at all, right?

Correct, AND (I'm sure you know this) make sure the wheels are supporting the cars weight before you do your final adjustments and tighten everything up.

How did your 949 End Link install go, mine came in the mail yesterday and I was going to install them this weekend?
Just wanted to check, do you have any pictures of them installed?

I ended up just installing them along with my coilovers a while ago. It was pretty easy. I'll try and take pictures after class today.

Endlinks usually install without any problems. Just make sure one side of the car isn't jacked while the other is on the ground. That makes things fun (sketchy)

Another good tip is making sure that the endlinks are perpendicular (at 90 degree angle) or close to it while looking at it from the front/rear of the car AND the sides. You can achieve this by adjusting the length of the endlink until it is perpendicular from the side and using the spacers provided in the kits (for getting the front/rear view perpendicular).

One last thing, make sure that you clock the ends of the endlink so that the endlink can have the most movement. The test would be to twist your endlink after you tighten the ends of the endlink and see if you can twist it freely.

So let me get this strait in my head. I want the top part of the endlink to form a 90 degree with the end of the sway correct? I currently have the spacer on the bottom of the link on the control arm.

Thanks! I knew that Emilio made a video for it as I used it when I installed mine.

Pleasure to be of service. I assumed it had to be out there somewhere, and figured it'd be useful to update this thread once I found the info.
