Wanted to start a thread about sharing items and information about items and parts you have found that are tremendous finds or fixes for repairing your Miata. Please include the specifics about the item(s) and a picture, if you can!

Here's a good one to begin with

Anthony (tsingson) told me the lower shift(dust) boot from the NC fits the 90-05 transmissions.
It is part number R501-17-47Z. The specified part is $39 (quoted from Arlington Mazda), this part is $12.50 (Arlington Mazda). Mazda genuine part. The bolts line up perfectly and it sits flush on the turret. Here are a couple of pictures on it on my transmission:

99-00 owners: the coilpacks are often the bane of your existence. I found these brand-new coilpacks on Amazon. They are made by Beck Arnley, and is EXACTLY like OEM, even comes mounted in the mounting bracket. A little over $100 is a STEAL. I have paid a little less for USED coilpacks to have as a spare.

I was just about to order this, I'm glad you posted this. Will this also fit the '99 6 speed?

EDIT: Just saw that you drive a 10ae as well, so im assuming this works for me. Thanks!

Wish I could take credit for finding this but I think I read about it from the old man's forum (m.net). Glad that it will help people out though!

Looking for a bit of an upgrade over the tiny Miata oil filter?

You can use the filter from the V6 KL powered MX6/Probe GT. It is easily an inch or so longer, same diameter, same thread and pitch, same seal, even the same pressure rating. Why use this? More filtering material, a little more oil on startup, easier to reach and grip when you have to change it. Usually they are the same price or marginally more as the specified filter.

Now is the mx6/probe filter still able to fit a 1.6L?

^ My filter of choice with the relocation kit but it is a bit tight next to the factory brace.

Need an O ring for a leaky CAS? Many hardware shops and part stores have a "box o' O rings", usually behind the counter or next to their hardware selection. The dimensions of the OEM ring is 1.5" ID x 1.75" OD, .125" Th. It goes by many part numbers, but in the standards, it is #222.

OEM is usually about $5 for one. I have bought a #222 over the counter from the Box for about $.60 - $1.

If you have a Motive pressure bleeder, cap #1100 for VW master cylinders (45mm) fits perfectly on the Miata clutch master. Use low pressure and you can finally bleed that SOB slave by yourself!

Replacing your rotors and can't get them off the hubs? Usually this is caused by a little build up of rust on the centerbore. Hammering it off risks damaging the bearing assembly. There is a simple fix! Use the T bolt used to hold down the factory jack. It threads into the hold down holes in the rotors. This is the smaller hole in the rotors, in the pattern for the wheel studs to pass through. Simply thread in the T bolt and it will land on the hub flange, pressing the rotor off. The hole in question is at about 6 o'clock in the image below.

I knew about the hole, but not about the t-bolt. Good to know !

Would this o-ring be standard rubber o-ring or buna-n ? I gotta buy one and don't know what material to use

Wow, this is pretty helpful. If you remove your antenna and don't want to buy the OEM antenna plug, just use the wiper arm plug. It fits right into place and looks perfect!

Orings... Use rubber or a heat/oil resistant material.

Replacing OEM motormounts on a NA, order NBs.
There the same, and cost half what the NA ones cost.

Make sure the throttle cable is properly tightened. That can make a miata have much much better throttle response.

From what I remember, when changing the fuel filter and you don't have any clamps for the lines, a couple of golf tees work perfectly to help keep that fuel off of you.

The Nissan 370Z oil filter and shift knob will fit a Miata.
