So far you've seen the double diamond pattern door panels, and the modular door pulls. The final piece to the door design are the 80's boombox inspired speaker grills w/ stainless steel mesh. The original intent for this piece was to offer a different option for people who are not interested in using the LE speaker covers, and for the 1.8 people who hate that crappy oem speaker grill on the 94-97 panels.

Below is the sample prototype that I made.

What is not shown is that the grills will be resting on another thin piece of polished aluminum that will serve as the base. The base serves a couple of purposes. 1. it allows you to bolt the grills to the door panel perfectly by serving as a template for you to drill holes for the screws. 2. it serves to give the speaker some depth and a place for me to engrave my logo. The reason why i decided on doing it this way versus just making everything one pieces is because later on, if i do end up releasing the art deco speaker covers, the mesh and covers would bolt right onto them, thus saving you from having to buy all new hardware.

Here's a rough sketch of how it would look:
7742
Dimensions are:
ID: 4.65"
OD: 6.25"
H: .450" w/ base.
Base and grill surround are polished aluminum. the mesh itself will be stainless steel. The base and surrounds will sandwich the mesh material and held together with button head screws. The screws will also serve to bolt the whole assembly to the door panels.

In order for me to pursue this project further, i need to know who would be interested in pre-ordering this set. The sets are priced at $200 each and i would need 10 people to pre-order before i can go forward with it. If you are interested, please go onto the site and place your order. I will keep a tally here in this thread. At the end of June, if there is enough people interested, then ill proceed with getting it made. if not, you will get your money back.

Pre-order here: http://www.retromoderngroup.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_60&product_id=61
Please leave your forum name in the notes section so that i can update the list.

What would the art deco covers look like? I'm curious...

I should start an interest thread for the LE speaker grills as well.

The art deco speaker cover bases would look something like this:
