Made this build thread to see if I can get voted on Motm so it's encouraged me to share with Mazda roadster where I've come from and where I plan on going. So for now as my first post I will update you on my most recent installs, problems, and purchases.

I just installed nb2 mesh seats. I don't know what year and model they came out of. Picked them up for two bills.

I installed new blanks and ebc green stuff while changing the fluid and painting the calipers aluminum to have a clean look.

When you replace brake pads upgrade to the red or yellows. The yellows are totally livable as a street pad.

I was unaware of that. I'll test these when I autocross. If I feel like I need to upgrade ill part with the green stuff to red or yellow. Thanks for the advice. I was too worried about the other too for daily driving.

It does suck having to pay for shipping. Luckily Esteban is in Orlando and if I have to, treasure coast miata is south of me. Thanks again for the compliments. I'm still waiting on rev9s shipment to arrive here. Sent me a confirmation Saturday morning so I think they were shipped last Friday. I was told 3-10 business days so it will come Friday or the beg. Of next week.

The camber would ruin starspecs because of the tread wear. I am thinking of BFg g force sport. 340 tread wear, I can daily it comfortably and autocross for the first time in them. I was considering kumhos estas sat because of the tread life as well as falkens 512s

While they didn't grip well, the two sets I had lasted a long time even with a crappy alignment. If you aren't too concerned about serious grip AST's should last a while. Oh and they're cheap as hell

I heard from his "good friend" that he was walking and he crawled up from the cliff and was ok but a big bump on his head. I also heard if it was slightly different like if he didn't bounce from the tree he would be decapitated. His good friend told me he just bought theists and that it was his first time at the gap. This good friend also told me he convinced his other friend on a motorcycle to go and be laid the motorcycle down today also.

So it looks like there were quite a few accidents this year.

I hit a bear, someone this morning hit a boar and totaled his car, this guy got air born and flew off a cliff and totaled his car and mini fd lost a bumper.

Damn, It just sucks to see. As someone like me who never gone (doing Boone in September), I plan on driving the car home. I have track experience but it doesn't matter how long you raced or driving a car, stuff like this will happen. A little bit of dirt, sand, or a small rock can upset the car when going through a turn. Your not on race tires so your chances of loosing grip just increase. I can't stress the importance of driving safe and driving within your limits. I consider myself a good driver. I've made mistake in the past. I'll admit it, I drove into the tire wall at Sebring after the checker dropped. Miata on RA1 don't drive so well in grass needless to say. I had to EXPLAIN to the Stewart why I crashed my car after the race. LOL.

Dang. That's some scary stuff. I'm always very cautious of my driving because I know my skill level is extremely low, but regardless of your skill level sometimes you can avoid an unforeseen obstacle. I'm sure most of the people that suffered accidents this year couldn't have done much to avoid them. Like boars chilling in the road.

I was taught to square up the car with the obstacle in front of you. Quart Midgets are open wheel race cars. If you tried to avoid hitting another car, you risk the front axle being damaged a shock, and two radius rods. So, to minimize damage, square the car up with the other car so the front bumper is the main contact point, they don't give as easy. I got pretty good reactions, but I not the best at avoiding stuff.

Would my 15x7.5-5 wheels fit nicely with autokonexions nb fender flares? They are 1.25 inches or 30 mm wider then stock. I don't want really any gap. I want it to sit nicely.

etikoner
08-19-2013, 12:58 PM
They're not wide enough IMO.. You'd need like a 15-20 mm spacer to get the wheels sitting flush with the fenders, and then they'd look too narrow from behind.. I'd consider looking into pulling the fenders and running a little less camber to get the flush look.

Well thanks for the opinions. I'll consider pulling the fenders and start dreaming of which bigger wheel to get. Clays ccws are pretty nice.

I just purchased a beautiful 3 point polished autoexe strut bar with a backing plate. I also need to get those v8 roadster frame rails installed soon. So much I want to do before the simply clean show in November.

Jeanne has the rare Mazda speed spoiler being shipped from the UK as we speak to install on her 10ae. She likes to get parts hard to find. She also but a polished zoom gas lid which I'm jealous about. Installed a newer Robbins black canvas top and a enthuza mid pipe and borla cat back exhaust system.

I took a turn too fast when the inside of the turn was still wet and the outside was dry so I lost traction and my LSD kicked in trying to compensate for it. I was very lucky and so was a potential motorcyclist. I pushed my car outside its limits with its ability and the weather conditions. Ultimately it was my fault.

Anyways I need some opinions and advice from those who might have installed a strut bar.

Question before I royally mess things up, how do I go about moving the hard lines for the master cylinder and brake booster... Here are some pics of my bay.

I rerouted the brake booster line behind the firewall for a cleaner look. But that's just me..... The easiest solution would be to unbolt the hard line from the firewall and just press it down for clearance.

The other lines just press them down out of the way.

I'm torn between flares or the new fenders also. ..

Or the Pennon widebody

mini_fd
09-01-2013, 12:03 PM
If I press the lines down for clearance behind the coil pack, it won't ruin the integrity of the lines or bend them and make a hole? I can get replacements for cheap but I want to ask before I assume. And pacman how did you do the reroute? Do you have a write up on parts and directions?

pacman 99
09-01-2013, 01:16 PM
Uhhmmmm no. Your not going to bend them that much. Holes? Ha. Once you move these hard lines you'll see how flexible they are to move around. So.... Don't feel like your going to beak something. Remove the smaller lines from the firewall holder clips of course before moving down.

I used brass fittings and tubing to make a new booster line run behind the firewall. I have pics somewhere.

Btw. I suggest you just press down the brake booster hard line since it also serves as the holder for the throttle cable. I had to find a way to secure them back near the original spots(zipties). If you leave it loose and unsecure you'll loose throttle response.

now installed and running. and a day later the.mishimoto radiator showed up today. so I'm telling them to kick rocks.

i also rebuilt my shifter and added notorcraft but I'm running into a problem. i replaced my shifted because it was stripping on the threads for a shift knob. the shifted was silver for my 99 5 speed. estebans gave me a 5 speed shifted but its black and i rebuilt the entire assembly with hem parts with a brass fitting from 5xracing. (great customer service) my dilemma is that it keeps falling off. the brass brushing falls off in the turret when i spirit drive and throw my shift knob hard. why is that?

I rerouted the brake booster line behind the firewall for a cleaner look. But that's just me..... The easiest solution would be to unbolt the hard line from the firewall and just press it down for clearance.

The other lines just press them down out of the way.

I was looking at routing mine behind the firewall but I chickened out of drilling any holes so I just replaced the hard line with the 10mm hose that Mishimoto sells and I pushed my throttle cable down a bit which looks SO much better than the hard line and is easily reversible.

Hit the lottery did you ?

What exactly do you want done, what parts are you supplying, lastly, whats your budget. Don't know if you want a full bottom build and specs you're looking for. Let me know and I'll find the right guy. Also a time frame.

I know a shop in Sunrise that does SUPER HIGH END performance work on everything from Ferrari's to Skylines. His name is Rick Swede, he doesn't advertise all his stuff is word of mouth. The company is Boost for Life.

Option 2

mini_fd
02-18-2014, 04:21 PM
I would need to fabricate a bracket. Plus the lights don't fill the entire gap of the oem bumper Fog Light hole. Maybe I can source a oem bracket for a nb2.

i like using the OEM fog holes, but NBs have that option, us NA guys can't do that.

mini_fd
02-18-2014, 09:46 PM
the thing with using te oem holes is using oem foglights which I don't want to use and I don't want oem fog lights... I'd really like to remove the tow hook to make it less clustered and then test fit, mount, and light them up to see if its worthy of keeping. I went through the trouble of buying and waiting for them. the least I can do is put them on the way I would like to see them. If they don't have that stealth clean look then Ill sell them to a lucky na member.

edit:

the lights do not fill the holes for oem mounts. they have a gap circumference wise.

I've decided I'm going to sell them. Reasons are this:

I wanted to mount them in the mouth of the bumper but it would eventually get in the way of a larger intercooler. I would already have to dismount the red tow hook which I was okay with. Putting them in the stock om fog holes would work but fabrication and trying to fill the gap up with some circular plastic was just becoming more of a project I didn't want to get myself into. If I wasn't going turbo then the mouth mounts would be perfect for the look and would work out like the fd. But since none of those will happen in my non perfect world I'm going to be selling them.

mini_fd

I ordered the pillar for the sake that I have a mini amp connected to my cd deck behind the unit and with a current water temp gauge above the unit. I'm placing an oil temp gsuge above the the unit as well so if I added anymore gauges the wiring behind there would be a nightmare. It would be ludicrous. So that's my main reasoning. I agree on the ricer part.

They are rubber gasket/spacers that go in between the hard top and the striker plate on the car. They mount on the underside of the chrome pieces on the hard top, just pull the rubber nipples through those 3 tiny unused holes.

.

nothing wrong with my mishimoto intercooler, in fact I am glad I bought the mishimoto intercooler. Their design fits perfect in the Miata front bumper, it allows me to use flyin' Miata intercooler silicone hoses without the need to cut the front bumper support. You need to keep the front bumper support for several reasons, first because it secures the front bumper cover in several points and second because to help box and canalize incoming fresh to the intercooler to radiator. This is important because without a coolant reroute and absence of front bumper support some turbo Miatas overheat.

mini_fd

Interesting. I shouldn't have overheating issues then with the flyin'miata intercooler I just bought. Also I have silicone upper and lower rad hoses with a 54mm koyo rad. I've already replaced every radiator hose through the bay.
