When I bought my car it had a really lightweight aftermarket shift knob on it. I never really liked it. I couldn't really tell what it was but something about it just didn't feel right. This past weekend I bought a stock knob to see if I liked that more.
My first impression was the weight of that sucker. I put it on a scale when I got home, it's 200 grams! After driving with it all week I really like it over the aftermarket knob, it's not perfect though. I like the smoothness but the knob is also kind of numb. I can't really feel what I'm doing like I could before.
This got me wondering so I made this last night.

It weighs 400 grams and shifts even smoother than the stock knob. But, since it's metal on metal, you can still feel what you're doing.
I'm a little worried about the weight though. Are there any issues that can develop from using such a heavy shift knob?
How much does your shift knob weigh? Do you like it, or would you rather it be lighter or heavier?
I underestimated how nice it is to have a decent knob, It makes since now though. If you have to use it 30 times anytime you go somewhere, it better be a pleasant experience.
