I think I've narrowed it down to these two options.

2009. $14999 certified pre owned, deep blue with black soft top. 48k miles.
2007. $15999. Carmax, gray, hard top. 66k miles.

What do you think?

Retractable hardtop would be the only NC for me

Is there any way of avoiding buying from carmax? I think their prices are truly inflated.

Thanks, testing it today, but I do think that may be the deciding feature. For a DD, the security, and the sound buffering. I can't really discern a difference between the 2007 and 2009 models, and, from my understanding of Miatas, 20,000 miles isn't a big deal.

Carmax looks to be about $1k over KBB/Edmunds. Wish I could avoid it but it's not overwhelmingly bad.

Either one looks to be good just by going on your words. I would recommend checking out craigslist also as there are always deals to be found there.

^+1.

OP, are both of the NC's local to your area? If so, why not go test-drive both of them? I've always liked the power-retractable hardtop option for the NC: Still offers you the option to go top-down, but also offer the security and classiness of a hardtop. :)

I usually go to carmax to test drive the car and to see if its worth even continuing to look at. They usually leave me alone when I go there so I can browse in peace.

I would go for the Certified MX5

'09 has the better engine with forged internals.

2009 all the way. Buy a removable hardtop if you want one after that. PRHT looks like terrible.
