Welcome, I heard the early 90's were lighter models, but with less bracing.Get a roll bar and take it to the track:)

Miata gurus!

I don't know much about four cylinders but I'm learning. Welcome to the forum. Also, check your crank for play. 90 and 91 engine are known for breaking the crack shaft key way. Best way to stop that, check the bolt and see if it still tight.

The two best articles are here
http://www.miata.net/garage/crankshaft.html
http://www.miata.net/garage/hsue/crank/loctite_1.htm

The second link has the aftermath pictures. I would go the route and use Loctite.

It not bad as was what I'm trying to say but if there is no play you should be fine. The problem you might think you have is really a simple fix after being around us GURUS. :winky:

As for mistake, the early NA models are the best for playing with. OBD I is a plus, early NA are lighter, and better track toys then most. It a great Miata to start off with in my books. Why, I own the heaviest model out there, a MSM.

What do you mean by mistake?
My guess is "mists" (in the title) and "mistake" were supposed to be "Miata" but autocorrect took over and "fixed" them.
