I purchased the car in March of 2011 and it is my 2nd miata. After falling in love with my NA I wanted something with more power. I tossed around the idea of turboing my NA but due to my current situation I couldn't go without a car for even a weekend, let alone the amount of time it would take me to do the work. So I ended up picking up a 05 Mazdaspeed Miata. When I picked it up it had under 26k miles. Now I believe I am at almost 40k.

It is going in the garage for the winter and hopefully when it emerges it will have at least new suspension and hopefully a HDHCDD rollbar.

Update:
Well the car has been put asleep for the winter. Battery hooked up to a trickle charger and stabil added to the gas tank. :cry2: HOWEVER, I am still accumulating parts waiting to install before summer :D

So far waiting at the house to be installed are: Ryoku Rob tow hooks, Stanless clutch line, center console cubby (replaces airbag control and will relocate that to the glove box), TDR Front splitter, and a new washer bottle to relocate it from the engine bay to cowl. Also, I just purchased a set of 15x9 6uls in nickel and plan to paint them gunmetal gray (same color as the wheels currently on my car) And within the next month I will be ordering my coil overs. Either FM Vmaxx or Megan EZ-streets. Haven't completely decided.

Decided to go out in the garage and work a little today. I Mounted my tow hooks and planned on mounting the splitter but my drill was shot. So I did a quick test fit of my 6ul's and called it a day.

I like this.

Thanks. I'm really excited to get my new suspension on, that should really finish off the look. I had planned on getting a hdhchtdd but when the 6uls came available I couldn't pass them up. So it looks like I won't have the bar til next year.

What did you get suspension wise?

I went with Megan ez-streets, but I won't be slamming. I am trying to ride the edge of form and function.

That line is allowed to be ridden.

Another weekend, another partial step done.

Decided to do a test coat of plastidip on my 6UL's. I am still on the fence if I am keeping them or not so I don't want to do anything to them that is not reversible. I plan on taking his one wheel and getting a tire mounted so I can see it on the car.

I like the gunmetal. Should be enough of a difference from your paint to look good.

I mounted up one of my 15x9 6ul's to see how much stretch I would be getting with 205's on a 15x9 (not wanting stretch) and to see how they look on the MSM. Right now the 6ul is just plastidipped to see how they look in a dark color on the car. If I decide to keep them, I will have them painted gunmetal. Now I have to decide... 6ul or Grid-V :|

UPDATE:

Made some more progress over the last couple of weeks.

I installed my front splitter, nopro washer bottle, and my center column cubby. I also blacked out my emblems with plastidip. I ended up having to spray the front emblem twice and will have to redo mazdaspeed also. A couple of things I learned, when doing something like emblems spray many thin layers. When I did a thicker layer, it ended up connecting from the emblem to the car so I couldn't peel it off the car without it peeling it off the emblem.

I ordered some starspecs for my DD tires and decided to keep my Rotas as my DD wheels. So instead of painting my 6uls gunmetal, I am thinking about painting them a burnt orange or some other bright color since they will be my auto-x wheels. I have a set of 205/50 RA1 seconds I picked up to wrap them with.

Here you can see where I wasn't able to peel it off in some of the narrow places. It is also peeling up around some of the letters because it was attached to the car and emblem. Going to respray it.

I spent a couple of days in May installing my Megan-EZ street coils. During the process I stripped out 2 of my 4 end links. My car has barely seen the edge of a winter and the hex nuts ends were crap and stripped right out. This was after I had already soaked all the bolts in penetrating lube. So after driving around with them popping for a couple of weeks I replaced with with some 949 racing endlinks. I actually ended up using a dremel and cutting the old POS's to pieces to ge them off.

949 was great, I ordered them on a Monday and had a 2 day autocross that weekend and asked them to get them out ASAP because of that. They got them out on Tuesday and I am 4 day shipping so they arrived on Friday. I was perfectly expecting a call on Wednesday asking me to upgrade shipping. But they took care of me!

So here is how I sit now. About 12ish in the front and 12.5ish in the rear. Felt like it took forever to get them right and even.

Spent this past weekend at Miatas at The Gap in Fontana, NC (Tail of the Dragon). Was an awesome weekend and really got to push the car on some back roads. All weekend long I could hear my driver side wheel rubbing and assumed it was just the fender liners since they had heated up and were sagging. After a long spirited drive on Saturday, I noticed some lines on the edge of my tire where it had rubbed something sharp and just assumed it was the fender liner tab on the front near the bumper and thought nothing of it because we had been pushing it pretty hard through some rough roads with some strong dips.

Well Sunday, before heading home I decided to run the Dragon 1 last time. What a mistake that was. I was stuck behind slow person after slow person, the worst of them all being a BEAT TO HELL Crystler Seabring with handicap tags and some white trash lady at the wheel. Every pull off we came to I was laying on the horn. Some point during this drive, don't know if it was when I turned around at the end of the dragon to head back or at some other point, but my driver wheel that had been rubbing all weekend snagged the inside lip of my fenders and bent it out flush. So what was the inside of the fender, was now outside.

In this pic you can see my drivers fender.

And here is the POS car in my way.
http://i1060.photobucket.com/albums/t455/t3k3l/ScreenShot2012-08-03at102127AM.png

Between the white trash slow driver who would not get out of the way and now my bent fender, I was in a pretty pissy mood. So I pulled off in a parking lot at the end and proceeded to try and bend my fender back using a pair of pliers. Jacked the car up, pulled the tire and wrapped a rag around the pliers to try and save my paint. Hoping it would make it all the way home, I only did a quick job and tried not to bend anything beyond where it couldn't be fixed. I got everything put back together and was drenched with sweat. I went back to pick up my wife from the hotel and head home. We were fine most of the trip until we stopped for lunch. Even being extremely careful not to push the car, I ended up snagging the mangled fender and it to chunks out of the edge of my tread almost all the way around the tire. By this point I was fed up with it and ready to be done, so I got a metal hammer and proceeded to roll my fender, banging and bending in the parking lot of a fast food joint. From the outside it doesn't look too bad, but where it bent out is now slightly longer than the rest of the fender and I did crack the paint and crease the metal right on the bend. So there will be no fixing it without a new fender. I don't plan on purchasing a new fender at the time but may at some point.

All in all, it was weekend and had an awesome time driving and just hanging out with other miata owners.

Here are some more pics from the weekend.
