This is kinda a rare bird.... we had been looking for 1 for a while (thoughts of making it a track car and be unusual to have it)... liking that it has almost the same 1.8 found in a miata (heck, miata's often use the protege VC.. haha)

Anyway, to make a long story short, we found 1 in Atlanta, GA... no rust.. but had been sitting in a field for 3 years.. got a little screwed on the deal (that's a whole other story) but to make a long story short, ended up with a rust free 'rolling shell' in our driveway for $1200 when it was all said and done (transport cost included). (it was supposedly running/driving and just needed a battery but turned out to have a blown headgasket and 3 holes in the radiator once we got it started.. oh joy!)

Since that time we've had to get a lot of parts (and I do mean a lot!)

- replacement engine (68k mile 1 sourced from Junk yard - drove 3 hours to pick up) -- replaced water pump, F&R main seals and timing belt kit
- new battery
- new clutch
- 4 new tires
- new axles (yes both sides)
- new radiator and new hoses
- new suspension
- new exhaust
- new brakes (rotors and pads) all 4 corners
- new sway bar end links and sway bar bushings
- full tune up kit (spark plugs, wires, VC gasket, etc.)
- new rear wheel hubs

..and other stuff I just know I'm forgetting here (literally another $1300 into just 'parts')

...isn't running YET (replacement engine and trans waiting to go into it now)

Also had to do
- replacement hood (someone or something pounded on the existing 1 so it had issues) -- picked 1 up on Phoenix so also rust free (yay)

Luckily interior is immaculate (not sure how that happened)
240k miles on the chassis btw. (seller insisted it was 140k but once we got it here, not much we could do once he had the funds in hand - again, a whole other story)

Anyone able to put a value on this thing if we were to just sell it instead of keeping it for ourselves? ..still trying to determine what to do with this money pit...

and of course some photos:

so that was the seller's original photos.. here is how it looked once we got new tires on it so it could roll a little easier and how it sat in our driveway after a much needed wash:

...one thing I'm thankful for with this extreme cold of winter we had, at least all the bugs in it are dead! no more ants or black widow spiders from Georgia now! ...those things did not survive the many days of below zero weather we had!

Bump for BG chassis love. The LX is a little rare, but a lot that has to do with age. You won't make a profit, unless you find someone with a wild hair up their butt to have one. Under estimated and under appreciated in its day, this is the same platform as an Escort GT, 323, and MX3...just with more features and an extra pair of doors.
