Hi Everyone,

I just got a new UNI intake that I am about to instal, its pretty simple and I am really only doing it for now for the sound.
The one thing, to cover all my bases, I wanted to know from you guys the steps to prep the filter.
It is a foam cylandrical filter, and I have been told it needs oiled ahead of time.

What are the proper steps/materials to get for this (that I can get at my local friendly autozone)? I have watched a few videos on it, but seen different techniques and would rather not mess it up.

Thanks!

SUPER simple! Get foam air cleaner oil in the aerosol can, then apply it in a uniform manner the air cleaner until it is completely coated. I would also wait a couple hours for it to wick into all of the nooks and crannies. With the K&N filter, it's gray, so you can see the oil which is red. Your UNI foam is red, so I'm not sure how easy it will be to see where you put the oil. On my old Yamaha YZ 250, you would massage the oil into the foam filter because it was soft. Good luck.

I will grab the spray and just do a left to right while rotating to try and get uniform coverage. You can probably tell by it turning a darker red I am sure

I have UNI filter on my Ninja, you just have to soak the oil, massage the foam filter, and let it sit for a while. UNI carries an aerosol oil, as an alternative as well.

I saw this video, but part of the problem was seeing other conflicting videos and talking to people who told me a two-stage filter shouldn't be oiled on a street car as it could damage the MAF. Was really just trying to get some street smarts from the fine folks around here.

I ended up oiling it with K&N filter oil and then cleaned the rubber with K&N cleaner (the only stuff my local advance had).
Slippery as shit, but I feel more comfortable now.

I plan on updating my build thread once I am not embarrassed by its placement, its... rough right now due to some miscalculations and haste.
