When I swapped my dash from the 1.8 to the lighter 1.6, I realized my crappy homemade aluminum radio blanking plate was not going to cut it anymore. The aluminum plate I had was extremely flimsy and because it did not sit flush, it exposed the ugly edges and openings around the radio surround. However, because my current 1.6 tombstone was modified by the PO for a double din radio... my options for a over the counter delete plate were slim. After doing some research and and looking at my options online, I decided to give Rick at RoadsterTech a call.

After speaking to Rick about my options, he let me know about some of the products he has coming out in the future *Had me drooling*.

We decided on a flush mounted HDPE plastic radio blanking plate.

After having it on my car for a few weeks, all I can say is:

This thing is freaking awesome!

*Build quality is extremely good.
*Plastic is very solid, with no flex. I choose the textured pattern.
*The edges are a tight machined fit and don't look like they have been cut with a tooth brush.

Although, its a fairly simple piece; you can clearly feel/see the attention to detail. I will be ordering from RoadsterTech again!

Thanks Joker,
While this plate is a true custom build. The mounting pads had been cut away. The new Rack System allows this type of plate to be made and mounted very easily. We can make a standard Rack System Blanking plate but cut it to the size of your modified opening. It then connects to the Rack System rails. Voila no gaping hole.

Nice review Joker. I received mine with the rack mount for extra adjustability so I can be certain it will fit with my M2-1028 radio console. Like joker I agree quality looks great. Jokers car (and Kendall's 10 years before that) were inspiration for me to do the nice flush mount blanking plate. I look forward to getting mine installed but honestly it will be a while as I have 150 other tasks to accomplish first.

Saw this first hand last night at the car meet. You really cannot see and feel the quality of these via internet photo. Seeing, and holding it in person you will surely be impressed with the quality of these.

I love mine! I have the slight recess, but I can flip it over to make it flush :)

Not to rub in but it not a thin plastic plate, it's thick and sturdy. Seeing it first hand was really interesting and I now
understand how the radio will mount to it. I was skeptical about it but after seeing it, it just went onto the "Going to Buy" list.

It's metal, not plastic.
