Random thoughts, ENGINE EDITION!

So for all those quick little random thoughts about your engine instead of starting a thread. You know the deal.



Now my question.

I redid my timing belt a while back. However I think my exhaust cam jumped a tooth (towards the right). My exhaust note is noticeably different, very throaty. But I haven't noticed much of anything else. I also feel that my top end power has recently started getting anemic (cant tell if its because its been a while from driving my car or what). But I have a significant drop in acceleration after I hit 5800rpm.

Am I imagining things or would skipping a tooth on my exhaust cam have already killed my motor?

Nah, the cams would be out sync, so not breathing as well as it should.

I figured as much, I know you run into some problems if it happens to the intake but wasn't sure what would happen to the exhaust.

no offense but we dont want another "Random Thoughts" thread, its just too hard to make the thread "search friendly"

If folks have a question, problem, idea, thought then fire away with a NEW thread, we are fine with that. Just don't want another 800 page thread to search answers, ideas, questions from. :locked:
