Hi guys, mostly a lurker on the forums, just had a question....

Looking at a Red 1994-R package out here in SoCal, car is rust free, no door dings, looks great, one owner, all original, bilstiens, R-lips package etc. 85K miles.

What do you think I should offer him?

Oh its Red. $4,000 sounds about fair. Socal is flooded with miatas so prices should be down. Not much special about the car other than the suspension which should probably be replaced at this point. Does it at least have AC?

I hate myself for saying this, but if it's all there and documented, maintenance is upto date, very good condition $5-6k

If it needs maintenance, like timingbelt/water pump, suspension/steering maintenance, a new top, the price goes down from there. A true R-pack, original owner, well-maintained if getting hard to find.

Heh, the Bilsteins that came with R-package cars are probably the most durable shocks out there. The springs might need replacing but at that mileage the shocks should have a lot of life left.

$4500-5000 is a good starting point IMO.

Sounds like a $5500-$6000 car to me

If it has A/C and all maintenance is up to snub, then don't feel bad paying a premium for this car.

For reference, there was a white 1995 R with 52k miles that sold in San Jose, CA for $8500 just last week. And that one sold quick. NO A/C all original, verified R.

Does anyone know what this one sold for? sounds about the same as what you have described

Miatas are plentiful in California, it doesn't mean they are any cheaper. It can be surprisingly difficult to find one that hasn't been someone's first car and unwilling subject of experimental mods. Others are sun-faded daily drivers that have seen tough, brutal traffic.

$6,000-$6,500, more if the maintenance is up to date. Low mileage Miatas are extremely rare to find in California, as the cars were purchased and used as daily drivers from the time they were new up to today.
