Had my car on the track for the first time last weekend.

I did experience that the springs bottomed out. At least that what I think happened.

In some of the turns (specially in turn marked with 1. on the picture) the rear started doing small jumps. Needless to say that did ruin my grip.

Should not Eibach and Koni handle this without the springs hitting the bottom?
I've heard there are some magic bump stops that gives my springs longer "working distance". Maybe that would do wonders?

What do you suggest?

Assuming your talking about Eibach pro kit...my experience with that setup is not so good. I found out that with lowering springs, FM works the best. Most aftermarket lowering springs does not have enough spring rate to prevent bottoming out. FatCat or FM bump-stops will definitely improve your ride.

FatCat Motorsport have different types of bump stops for different types of applications. You will need shorter bump stops, so you can maintain or maximize suspension travel on lowered cars. I gotta say Koni yellows are amazing, since you already have em, switching the eibach pro kit to GC coils would improve handling, only my opinion.

But even the Eibach pro I expected to manage better than this..
Probarly replace them after I have the approved stamp for lowering springs in the "certificate of title" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_title).

Is this (http://www.ground-control-store.com/products/description.php/II=43/CA=23) the kit you are thinking of?

Actually new for me, how is the final result with such a kit compared to other alternatives on the marked?

These are a pretty good setup. Since you have the yellows already, it would save you money, instead of buying other full on coil overs like Tein, BC, Ohlins, or JIC. I had a good experience with Eibach pro kits, but it was on my Toyota MR2. On my miata I bottomed out a lot.

I don't know if the Ground Control coilovers will work with the purple FM rear tops hats. I would just use OEM tops hats or Mazdacomp.

Here is the link Regarding the Bumpstops, I would buy from these guys: http://fatcatmotorsports.com/FCM_app_guide.htm

You probably want the 36/36 bumstops if you get GC coils.

Here is the link for the Mazdacomp tophats.

Those purple Shock mounts from FM (http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?stocknumber=13-57100) do fit with the Ground control kit.

These bolt right in place of stock mounts and are compatible with 2.5" coilover springs (such as the Ground Control) as well as the stock sizes.

This means that a lowered car will have the same travel as a stock one!

Would not the purple be better than those from Mazdaspeed.

thank you, alot.

Nice picture from FCM.

Actually I have stock swaybars, for now. But that will change. So guess 36/36 would be nice.

This is my current setup:

Not the best, but better than ebay stuff. This gives me the option to re-valve & re- build, if it ever blows.

Yup, mazdacomp is similar to oem but firmer rubber inserts. I mentioned mazdacomp, because I wasn't sure if the purple top-hats fit; but since it does, I would get the purple top hats.

Same here, I have 36/36 right now on Billies HD with 96 oem springs, but looking to get FM springs when time permits .

Hopefully I finish prepping up my suspension soon. I'm planning to hit T-hill this year. It would be a lot better if I had a turbo or supercharger.

Kenjo at Garagestar sells good extended top hats that will work with koni I believe.

I have the Illumina + Eibach + rear FM top hat (purple) + FCM bumpstops and I bottom a lot. I practically ride on my BS on rough surfaces. I set the shocks on the softest as I can stand the jarring effect of hard setting. From what I have gathered the best would be to replace the springs with the FM ones which I will do once I have my other miata with Teins running.

Are your shocks on the hardest setting? This will help but not recommended for street use unless you don't mind.

For tracking I'd suggest 450# front and 300# rear and a about 5 inch ride height measured at the pinch welds.

One minor detail, its actually minor. I have Koni springs not Eibach, but it seem like both Eibach and Koni springs are way too soft.

I do think that replacing with FM springs are the best reasonable priced solution. Since I live in a country where TUV rules I would had to put on TUV springs before MOT.

I could adjust them harder and fine adjust.

Right now I will run the Koni springs and dampers, must spend time (on rust) and to mount other parts first.

Right now I would consider
-Meister Zeta R (http://www.meisterr.co.uk/products/zeta-r/) => Gets a lot good reviews in England. 1100usd and new. 10kg/6kg Springs
-Ohlins => Has TUV. Bud pricy => 2000 usd => 8kg&kg
-Used Aragosta/Maruha from Japan.

For some reasons spring rates from Japan are a little to stiff rear, so it will give a little too much overstear.

FYI, if you already have Konis, it can be cheaper to source the Koni sleeves and springs separately. You'll need to track down 2.25 id springs, however I was able to find mine used, which saved me around $150 over the GC setup.
