Has anyone ever had a radiator just split wide open on the bottom of the radiator? First time I have ever seen this before.

The OEM radiators tend to grow brittle and crack over time. When they turn brown it is time to replace them.
It's not uncommon
Meh, radiators are wear items, it happens. You will get a lot more life out of a full-aluminum radiator, with extra cost of course. or just expect to replace them every 7-8 years.
And considering a NA or NB radiator is only $75 (quality Koyo OEM style), and is one of the easiest radiators of any car to replace, it's a minor issue.

I assure you, they're listed as TYC, but they're Koyo rads. Just make sure you get'em through Amazon and not a 3rd party seller.
