So after installing a 5mm spacer on all sides I began to notice that my tire actually rub on the wheel lining on the front drivers side. So I was wondering if most of you guys remove this lining or leave it on? I personally want to leave it on, maybe I should try to modify it or try pushing it higher up.
What are you guys doing?
I removed mine on my last car. Realized it was a bad idea. All that dirt that collects at the bottom of your fenders gets sent everywhere. I had a ton of garbage in the door jam. Not only that, the noise is crazy from all the stuff hitting bare metal inner fenders. Made me cringe driving everywhere.
The Miata I have now I left in the liners and trimmed them where ever the tires rubbed.
I ditched it a looong time ago, any car moderately low would probably benefit from it.
I heated my liners and reshaped the liners to clear tires as necessary.
I ditched my liners so I could roll my fenders, but totally agree with Paul: the noise is horrible. I haven't had much of a problem with debris yet, been thinking of ways to work around it
I really wanted to keep mine. I tried modifying it and cutting different sections of it, reshaping it, nothing completely solved the problem and I ended up throwing away what scraps were left.
I would keep it and just trim the part that rubs, or take it off if you have to and put a thin coat of rubber coating spray for rust protection. The rubber coating might help the noise too.
Try to bend the bolts/brackets that hold the plastic liner in place so that they are out of the way.. Others did this trick.
