Differences in belt manufacturers

So, I have a new NB, and it needs a timing belt. Treasure Coast offers two packages otherwise identical, except for the make of the belts. The more expensive one contains Gates belts for the timing and for the accessories. The less expensive one features Mitsuboshi. Are Mitsuboshi dramatically inferior to Gates, or are they just manufactured in some low income market?

The timing belt could also be a Contitech/GMB, depending on what is in stock, I suppose.

I've heard of Mitsuboshi, I'm sure it's just as reliable like Bando. I have Contitech on my Mercedes and Bando on my old miata and Toyota's. I don't know much about dayco belts but I had issues regarding slipping and ripping after two months of use. I'm not gonna say dayco is bad it might have been a bad batch, it happens.

M2C. Timing belt form Gates or Contitech are both good. Never had a problem with either on stock engines. If you want more security get a Gates Blue.

As for the drive belts for the accessories. Lot of info. Gates or OEM on the Miata. If you own a Jeep, Dodge, Ram run Dayco. Anything that has stretch-to-fit get OE or Gates. Nissan, Toyota and Mazda run OEM or Dayco.

The belt makers have let us down in the last few years. HTH!
