Cool man, everybody does their own thing. KINOD is exactly what it seems to be... A collection of miata owners enthusiastic enough to meet every Friday night. Most are modified and a lot of them participate in autox, track and even a couple drifters. Guys from project G, garagestar and a few other shops are easy to find with that group.
Im really glad to be here and am riding high on the culture. I went to a Tuesday nighth meet last night in Carson city and there were easily 400 cars there... Even a couple food trucks and vendors! Apparently this is a weekly meet and is organized by a local team through facebook. There were the normal douches trying to get it shut down with exhibition and burnouts in the parking lot and the organizers called the cops to grab as many as they could. Expected backlash posted this morning but whatever... Where is there that kind of interest in Texas? I mean, every Tuesday night??? Crazy cool.
This past Saturday I went to Irvine Coffee and Cars. The lot is much smaller than Houston's venue in Vintage Park, but it's a weekly meet! Still 300 cars or so. Quality of all the cars was great, tons of interest in my miata too. Until I get bored with it, I plan to go every single week to this one.
I've been tinkering with the car a little every day. I did some DIY bumper repair where I have damaged my front bumper and plan on attacking the paint myself. I also wet sanded and buffed out a couple of deeper scratches that have been killing me quietly every time I see them. Good riddance.
I had breakfast with John from AEM again this morning and he recommended an alternate solution to using a 12-1 trigger wheel on the crank pulley, feeding the EMS-4. It's a sensor that attaches to the CAS, but requires machine modification of the CAS housing. After that it's a plug and play solution. Sounds easy enough and I'm hoping I can suck him in to helping out. It's not every day you meet somebody with that guy's history and knowledge base. The more face time I have with the dude, the better.
