Thanks Pete as with all these projects they tend to go more than what you expected. So far I have -
Carried out full service including plugs, leads and filters (it had been running a bit lumpy till I did this).
Fitted new wipers - would have been a fail at the annual car inspection test if not.
Replaced worn Nardi gear knob and handbrake holder with replace good condition exact replacements.
Fitted hardtop
Fitted a yellow factory strut brace from an S-Special.
Fitted Mazda battery with fitting kit as was wrong size battery before
Replaced thermoswitch as radiators fans stayed on.
Fitted Mazda sunglass holder instead of the ashtray in centre console
Fitted SSR MK2 alloy wheels
Jobs that will get done over the next month
Fit coilovers and low
Fit OEM Front lip spoiler
Delete front registration plate holder and re-spray front bumper
Respray hard top yellow
Remove rear spoiler and re-spray boot lid
Cut out early signs of rust on sills and replace with fresh metal
My silver roadster came out of winter hibernation. Think I have a battery issue as it would only start with a jump start. Left the battery to charge of the leads for a little while and it now does start but I have had the car since 2007 and never changed the battery and think it was done some time between import in 2004 and my ownership so quite old now.
Not done anything to it but still really like this car.

What's not to like!:slayer: Nothing wrong with just enjoying the mx5, especially one as well done as this, James! Feel free to get more pics at your convenience.
Update post. I didn't intend to but I have purchased another mx5. This one I tried once before when it was going through auctions in Japan in January 2014. I missed it (lost out by about £500) and the car stayed in Japan where it was stripped of various JDM parts before reappearing in the auctions later that year. At this stage it was purchased by a UK MX5 specialist (AK Automotive) who brought the car into the UK late 2014. They invested time and effort into it and the car sold in early 2015 to a chap in Kent who I have purchased it from. It does seem odd to now own a car I tried to buy 5 years earlier when in Japan...
Good points is the car has a nice specification and being a relatively late import and owned by an enthusiast who treated it on import the car is very clean underneath and a lot more solid than most MX5s you will see in the UK. The specification (or upgrades) are as follows -
Full Re-spray Excellent Green 11Q
Pit Crew Racing rear end
Work rear bumper
Zoom Elan front bumper
Garage Vary bonnet
Tuckin 99 small wheel arches
JDM tuned engine (ported & polished and skimmed head)
Toda lightweight flywheel
Excedy clutch
Alloy radiator
K&N Induction Kit
JDM (Active?) Strut brace with Brake cylinder Stopper
HKS 4-2-1 Manifold
HKS stainless centre
AK Automotive custom exhaust
SSR Mesh alloy wheels
Nardi Steering wheel
Chrome mirrors

It was an impulse purchase, it needs some cosmetics doing on the paint and when I tried to buy in Japan it had the full Pitcrew kit (a bit damaged). I think the fusion of different parts work OK whilst the colour helps too. It was originally a 1992 Green V-Spec model so the colour change works OK with under the engine-bay.
The latest addition has had a few coats of polish this week, a good interior clean and plans for the future being decided. I also found out it had braided brake hoses on the front. Knowing this car from its original Japanese auction when I tried to buy it must have had a lot of JDM boutique parts as whilst it still has some there was so much more (particularly the interior).

Got my Black S-Limited Pitcrew out of the garage. Some comparison photos with the latest addition. To go with the Nardi 60th Anniversary wheel I’ve had for a while photos of the Daikei Boss Hub Kit and Daikei Polished Hub Cover added end of last year. With this particular Nardi wheel think it works well.

The J-Limited has started getting some work done. I bought this as a project car but key was I wanted a yellow MK1 MX5 as had done for a while and this one had low miles (just over 60,000 miles) and on the whole quite solid. However both sills had various degrees of blistering so popped to the garage this weekend it is getting worked at and rusty metal has been cut and out and metal put in its place.

Still a lot more to be done on the J-Limited at the garage but looking forward to the results.
Did a thing yesterday... A 9 hour round trip having left at 4am to visit Deepcar Autobodies in Sheffield. Deepcar Autobodies is run by Dave and Emily who have a fantastic car body shop and have a wealth of experience in MX5s being fellow enthusiasts. On my recent purchase I want to restore it back to how it looked in Japan with a full Pitcrew Racing kit. Having missed it at the Japanese auctions when it was complete that played a part in my decision. Dave had a Pitcrew Kit for sale so a deal was agreed and a visit yesterday to get it fitted. It means I have a spare Pitcrew Racing rear (needs work) that I may sell. For now the car is 50 shades of green! It needed a respray anyhow so will have to work on that. Also fitted last week so MK2 RS JDM mats. This is my Pitcrew number 6 for me that resides alongside my Black Pitcrew Roadster built from scratch.

I know it’s not as adventurous as a DAMD but it looks so right!!
Yeah mate. For me I prefer the look of the Pitcrew. I could have bought a DAMD front too (and it was a lot (lot) cheaper) but for me I would have been short-changing on the job as the car needs to be a wide-arch Pitcrew like it was in Japan. Here is a photo from the auction sheet when I missed the car by a few £££.

You can see it had a pretty tricked interior and knowing other cars that have come in suspect it would have had bits removed before going to the auctions. It is a shame I missed it but it does mean I built my black Pitcrew Roadster instead whilst fate seems to have brought the car and me together nearly 4 years later.
It is 50 shades of green right now but as you will now from my black Pitcrew build or my first build stages of work are now the case. It won't happen quickly as my yellow J-Limited is now getting a full re-spray (that started from can you do the bootlid, bumper and hard-top!).
Love the steering wheel hub and trim ring!!! What kind is it? Like the steering wheel too with the 4 holes per spoke only I want the old style darker & thinner wheel for my self. I think they made one like that from that manufacture (forget it's name) at one time. The steering wheel controls are bangin too, but I have cruse so that will not work, besides I think they are not made anymore. Nice Clean Look for sure!!! Outstanding!!!
Hmmm...... when you do, I might be interested. Just to have a full set possibility.Quote:
