Congrats on the A/C Job mighty fine work. Most miata guys nowadays just remove the AC entirely.
Thanks!
I was sort of talked into removing it on the NA when I moved west. Bad idea. It was still hot many times where I wished I had left it in. It was paramount to reinstall when I moved back to the southeast.
This NB is a true dual-use car. I want it to work, and work WELL. This was also evidently needed when I was caught in a torrential downpour last Saturday. Not so bad for the temperatures, but all the windows fogged badly while driving. Luckily I had a small cloth in the car to clear the windshield, but AC would have handled that easily.
I am pleased.
Totals:
$135 for condenser, seals, evaporator expansion valve, drier/accumulator, Schrader valve kit.
$30 for new-used evaporator assy
$118 for test and recharge
$35 for 2 dozen gourmet donuts for the repair shop staff
$318 total. I love it. :)
I can agree with you, the NB (In stock form, hardtop, 6 speed) I feel is the perfect daily driver for someone that likes spirited driving.
Our summer has arrived.
This AC system blows.
Icy, cold air that is! (Lol) I was sporting diamond cutters sitting in traffic on the way home today. Woot!

Ohhhh man! My local Miata breaker just got a 2000 white NB with all the parts I need to make repairs from my fender bender!
I was frantically trying to email him when he messaged me...maybe I have a problem when my parts guy remembers what I need and proactively contacts me before I contact him? ;)
This is awe_some!

Seems like you are on a breaker fire lately; good find!
Hey Steven, does that NB have good black door cards? I was needing some and can't get them locally.
Either or. Mine has Bose ones but those speakers are long gone. Is there a difference between the two?
Just the Bose badge
Whatever is in really good shape and cheaper works for me. :D
I will look at his stock the next time I am over there.
Installed the new-used front fender today. We are currently a mile from the sun, fortunately the job went smoothly! Excellent match and fit. :) OCD abated.

Time to replace the only hub I haven’t touched, the front left. It wasn’t ‘bad’, I just wasn’t encouraged by the quality of the others I replaced. Best to just nip it in the bud for my peace of mind. ;)
I went with another Centric premium hub, like the front right. It includes the hub nut, it’s made in Japan, has nice bearings, and the pricing is very good. I also ordered replacement dust caps for the hub nuts, and the cherr(ies)y on top are these ARP studs, like I installed on the rears earlier this year.

Front hubs are really pretty straight forward, ~30 minutes/side with hand tools.

Pressing out the short studs in a vise with a 19mm socket as a spacer.

Getting ready to press in the ARP studs in the press downstairs.

Boom! One side done. Rinse and repeat for the other side.

The rear wheel for comparison.

I also ordered new track numbers. These are larger and more what I was originally intending.

Red numbers, black outlines. It really pops against the white. The corner workers will have noooooooo problems identifying me again for a black flag. *tee hee*
That’s looking good! Needs red racing stripes now.
How did you install the ARP studs?
