I had cloud cover in my area as well. Scrubbed the photography of the moon and enjoyed everyone elses' photos. Not that I could do the work smaeda did. Looks great.
Jeanne at the Redwood Forest National Park. I asked her to bend over for Paul's hand so that it looked like he was spanking her. She said no lol.

OK you camera sluts, is there a "best bang for the buck" camera setup out there?
Like all other hobbies, I know you gotta pay to play, but I'd rather jump in on the cheap, or find a kick-ass deal. I don't mind used gear, if it works well.
I'd like to shoot nature, and be able to do some decent headshot/gathering photos.
Interested to see the answers of others. My personal experience led me to buy a used Pentax K-5. I chose this camera because I had a few K-mount lenses from old film cameras, direct fit over with the exception of some features. It has around 16 megapixels and comes in a weather resistant body. I found mine with a 18-55mm kit lens and a couple batteries. After a friendly chat i had the guy down to $225.00.
The brand is not quite as popular as Nikon or Canon, but i have always found them cheap, versatile, and fun.
Figured i would share my experience.
I would say if you don't want to do video, get the cheapest, functional Nikon or Canon DSLR you can find. Don't worry so much about gimmicky features or megapixels. If you can adjust shutter, aperture, and ISO that's all that really matters. Shoot in Manual mode, every time. I've been shooting DSLRs now for three years, and I now know how to set the manual settings to get whatever effect I want usually on the 2nd or 3rd try. Use the money you have saved to get lenses. Start with a standard zoom, a prime ( I LOVE primes) or two, and perhaps a telephoto. I was told this advice when I started and did not listen, I ended up with a new, decent body that depreciated like a rock. Had I followed this advice, I would have a collection of lenses and be picking up my current body for less than half of what I paid.
