Washed it after 790 miles on winter roads during christmas.
Looks good! Did you use vinyl dye, or is that parking brake cover wrapped?
LOL KAL I had to wash 900 miles of Christmas road trip off mine too! Same salt different country...

Got rear ended. Very very carefully. Things I noticed in my first car-accident:
1) People can be very polite in such a situation. I stressed the fuck out, even with the very limited damage. Didn't get the owners reg. number, though got her phone-number and she texted me her reg. number and the name of her insurance company.
2) My head hit the seat, not the rollbar
3) What felt like a hard hit almost didn't show
you very well may have damaged your bumper even though it doesn't show. You might want to get that replaced. If You get hit again in the same spot it could do serious damage to you and the car.
Yep, the whole insurance-ball is rolling now, we'll see what happens next!
:D
Yes! Fell of my trunk rack! Shattered like glass, millions of small Rotrex-pieces.
Installed my new IL center console with pad, I know the picture isn't installed...but I just don't want to show how badly faded my seats are [emoji12]
Well at this angle they look good lol
Replaced all oil and coolant lines after developping both leaking.
Also removed the AEM wideband (wouldn't set up with the MSPNP) and installed a new Innovate MTX-L
Then had the driver's side rad fan die, so picked up a used one from Treasure Coast Miata.
Also picked up a Harbor Freight compression tester to check the motor before going all out on the tune.
Whoa, the return of the long lost richterat83 :) I guess this means you never sold the car.
Just finished installing my Technafit brake lines, but I still have to bleed the system tomorrow.
Installed Moss Lo Pro headlights on mine...will upload a pic or two tomorrow!
How difficult was to install those lights?
Good to know. I have been deciding if it goes on my wish list or not. Im always concerned with electrical wiring. It seems I always manage to screw something up. Lol!!!
Here it is, car is a little icy though! Lol
RevLimiter window switch fits perfectly in the IL console!
GWR motor mounts installed today...very buzz.
Installed Jass handbrake and shifter...not sure if I like or not. Also, installed DDM intake...now need to tidy up hoses and wiring!
The Jass pieces look nice. I like that the ebrake handle has some shape to it, unlike the boring tubular shaped ones.
Today, I applied for a duplicate title, as the original has become lost to time. I also hinted to the girlfriend that softer motor mounts would make the car much more enjoyable, and that my birthday is around the corner.
Tomorrow, if she cranks, I'll get the inspection knocked out knock some rust off the rotors.
went from this when originally bought Attachment 13314 Attachment 13315
to this, today …………... Attachment 13316Attachment 13317
very happy with the small changes.
From completely original to having both front and rear R package spoilers ( Rspeed, awesome fit) and Turn signal intakes from Moss.
Inside I FINALLY changed out the shattered gauge hood, Installed Revlimiter gauges ( thank you soooo much Adam) with KGW black panel and installed a 1995 JDM VR-Limited MOMO steering wheel ( many, many thanks to Randy).
Started tearing the seat apart to put seat covers on.
I got new knee lights and a new switch for the hazards/headlight motor. Will install this weekend if I'm not frozen from this snow.
Do you mean aftermarket center console lights?
Progress on the Malibu.
Last weekend:
Removing the stripes and all the bolt off panels except the doors.

This weekend:
Painted hood, trunk, bumper covers, license panel and front fenders.
Monday (today) is a holiday in Australia so a pic of the car this morning.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7300/...d3b9a1da_o.jpg
Removed the roof, doors and the last of the stripes today.
Also dismantled the doors and washed it all with wax and grease remover.
Hope to paint all the remaining pieces next weekend.
There's no dents or rust so it's nice and easy.
wow, full resto. I'd love to do it that way
Got these from Randy
Attachment 13328
...and finally installed them yesterday.
Attachment 13329
These will do just fine until I get around with the $$$ for some Watanabes or SSRs. Baby steps :-)
Lol. Yes, I need to do the thread. But its going to take a looooong time. And Yes, I need to come up with a scheme that works for the wheels :-).
I bought a set of TRM C1s, 15x7 + 25. I will put my track tires on them. I can use them on the Miata or the E30.
Sanded off the stripes and lightly sanded the flat areas with #180 with a DA sander
Shot the stripe area with 2K surfacer
Rubbed over the body with 3M dry guide coat
The darker areas show where I used the DA.
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8582/...0db1bde2_o.jpg
Blocked out everything with #600 wet and dry and a extra fine sanding sponge
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7322/...d92a9398_o.jpg
Note how you can still see the stripes in the surfacer. Blocking the surfacer with a hard block removed the stripe pattern completely.
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8575/...fd5cf712_o.jpg
Used a white 1K primer over any rub throughs. Painting the body tomorrow!
And painted.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7448/...1f440e0c_o.jpg[/url]
Painted everything except inside engine compartment and boot/trunk.
Used almost 2 liters of Sunburst Yellow 2K solid color, 1 liter 2K hardener, 250ml 2K thinner, 2 x aerosols of 1K primer, 10 sheets #600 W&D, 3 x extra fine sponge pads, 1 liter wax and grease remover, rags, masking etc.
Also to remove the painted on stripes I used about 10 x #180, 6" DA disks and about 300 ml of 2K surfacer.
^ Very nice...I love the prep you put on the car. I'm planning on having my car painted next year, I can't wait.
Paint is all about prep. Can never over do prep work when painting.

Was hoping to finish the paint job on the Malibu this weekend but time ran out.
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7336/...62dc9ddc_o.jpg
In this first pic I am guide coating the paint prior to sanding out the paint with #2000 wet and dry.
All parts were polished separately to make clean up easier.
Used a 7" rotary wool buff first and then a 7" foam one.
It will need a light polish again now it is assembled as the gloss level is a bit variable.
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8665/...73598a37_o.jpg
Partially assembled here.
Still have to set the end point stoppers for the power windows and adjust the central lock motors.
Then install door panels, door top moulds, door mirrors, washer jets and number plates.
Finished pictures next weekend.
This is exactly how I would want my car to be painted. Excellent work
I've been busy:
1.8 caliper brackets
New rotors
Carbotech Pads
Technafit Stainless Hoses
DDM Intake
TDR tensioner
TDR hose re-route
Timing belt
New crank bolt/ woodruff
New NGK wires
New spark plugs
Project G hardtop spoiler(no more eBay!!)
Also, made some new lenses for my TSI's because the og Moss ones were yellowed...after less than a year!!

Yay!
Absolute Beauty, man. I know you have to be excited
It's great having it back on the road, for sure. Not so keen on the wheels but it's a lot of fun driving it with the tall ride height. So used to going walking pace over speed humps and watching out for potholes etc. I've been driving it like a mad thing today. Woo hoo!
Yellow looks too orange in these pics, but it's good in real life.

Today was a slightly busy day...just trying to keep out of the cold!
- RB solid rear sway bar
- RB adj end links
- GM rearview mirror with map lights..terrible picture, sorry!
- Slung the SC belt..driving it without the PS pump hooked up isn't super fun
P.S. Don't make fun of my nasty undercarriage!!

That is lovely!
Last night I installed the gross, rusty steelies, the fold-up visors, a OEM gauge cluster, OEM door handles, OEM oil cap, and a few other bits. I should have removed the roll bar bolts while the wheels were off, but didn't think about it.
Last night, I made the stupid decision to drive the car home. This morning, I almost lost the car twice during the freaking blizzard that was supposed to be a dusting
This pic reminds me.. Need to pull off those tow hooks
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8622/...9e1b19db_s.jpgIMG_20150224_075005701 by demon1am, on Flickr
Sounds like your getting rid of that ride. Your steelies may be rusty but they are not gross, they have much coolness inside them. Find some daisies and hold onto the steel. :D
yeah, the car's being sold. Hopefully, it's staying in the MRnet family.
Ha. That is a Bettie Page piece by the late, great Dave Stevens, creator of The Rocketeer.
So yesterday, the Miata battery died while driving. It went very slowly. First the lights got dim, the charge light started coming on, then everything went dark. It was late at night, and the snow storm was impending. I removed the battery, and got a lift to the closest FLAPS. They tested the battery and said it was toast, so I bought a brand new one. To me the problem sounded like an alternator issue. I installed the battery, and took the car to the store, and had them test the alternator. By now the snow was falling hard, and I had to get home asap. The alternator tested good, so I set off for warmth.
Today, after the roads were clear, I drive the Miata to a friends beer store. Everything was fine, except the windshield wipers were moving extremely slow. When I get ready to go home, the car will not crank, just the dead battery clicking sound. So now I'm thinking there has to be a charging issue. I pop the hood, and peek around; checking the belts and whatnot. Then I notice something odd. The long tensioner bolt for the alternator is gone. The cubic block nut was still installed, but the long pass-through bolt is 100% MIA.
I was able to get a jump, and get the car back home safely, but now I won't drive it until I can recharge the battery, and find another tensioner bolt. I've never heard of one of those just backing all the way out like that.
http://i.imgur.com/Ojl2ukfl.jpg
My first track day. It was a blast.
Lots of Miatas there. Mine was the only one with the original shocks and crappy tires.
The Porsh behind me this photo passed on the one long strait but I would catch back up
on the rest of the tight track. He had as much experience as I did, none.
Everything I have done to the car up to now has been for show.
I think its time to get some parts for GO!!!!
Thats the way to do it! Get out and try it stock — upgrade what you're not happy with!
http://i.imgur.com/Lwp9HqX.jpg
Got my Vmaxx's on today. Finally at correct height!
Works great together with the FM Sways on the bumpy roads we've got around here.
Couple of miles to go, then alignment.

Installed Racingbeat header and magna flow cat
All of the alternator belts were more loose than I'd have hoped for. installed a new long bolt, and torqued everything down. Too late to drop the battery off at the parts store for charging. Hopefully the drive home (30 min) will be good enough to get me going in the morning.
Tomorrow, I'm taking full advantage of the 70* day. Hopefully, a coolant flush on the NA, roof swaps, and wheels on the NB. If I have time left over, maybe a suspension or rollbar swap.
Got rid of my old wires and installed some NGK Blues
Removed the old registration stickers from the license plate and placed the new 2016 sticker on.

That's very nice Imontalto .Quote:
Installed Racingbeat header and magna flow cat
I would like a set up like that but I don't want it to be much louder than stock.
How would you say your engine and exhaust noise levels are now?
I've had the racing beat exhaust and it didn't get much louder than when I got that. But the car does sound different just more of grow now.

Pods installed.
http://i.imgur.com/oM6xUySl.jpg
Wow my steering wheel looks terrible. Gota redo
I have to thank(or curse)Adam for the inspiration. Without his blog I would have never attempted to do the pod gauges.
The gauges are smith from http://www.europaspares.com/smiths-f...gue-clock.html
The clock is cool, it has a remote button you can hide to set the time. I put it next to the cigarette lighter.
The dash pods are from http://mx5roadsters.net/shop/kgw They are nicely made. Fit and finish are flawless.
The leather came form http://www.redlinegoods.com/Miatashiftboot.php The fit of the leather is great, of course there
is some trimming to do. The color of the leather is a little off. It is more dark gray than black. I didn't notice that fact till
I had already installed the left side pad. :fp: But as I'm a little rash I pressed on and finished the other side. Getting the leather
around the vent hole was a pain in the vent hole. I can see why Adam took his to a pro. However as my car is only about a
7 to begin with, my amateur skills are good enough.
http://i.imgur.com/JRyh8n1l.jpg
I never did figure out how to wire up the dimmer function correctly. When I set the instrument panel to full bright the Smith gauges
go full dim and vice a versa. So I'll just set the lights to a happy medium.
Now that I'm done and have had time to soak in the color, I like it. :D I think I'll do the tomb stone and console.
Got hit. Looks like the front bumper will be getting repaired and painted soon, hopefully.
The first time was me hitting a light pole, this time was a 2014 Ram Pickup backing into me at a red light. I successfully avoided 2 people who merged into the space my car was occupying in the last week, couldn't dodge the Dodge...
You has air horn? If not, Hella is your friend!

Had an air bubble form near those two bolt holes on the 'dohc' side whilst baking, otherwise I'm with how it turned out for my first time using the stuff. Just need to do the lettering now.
What's going on in the second pic Jimmy? It looks like chrome paint.
Nice detailed workmanship though. Looks great.
That's just the wet paint before baking and it wrinkling up.
Alternator tension bolt fell off again, wtf. Got that ghetto fixed for now.
Installed a washer bottle and ran hose.
Finally recovered the door cards. Instant improvement.

Might do that. With the winter wheels it was rubbing with two people and luggage in the car. Will have to do some more driving before i "lock" my height. Think i'll will go for 12"/12,5" as recommended by FM.

What I want to do with them is use one for the ingition system, one for thw fuel system (pump maybe) and add in the space on the right a start button.
Realistically what they are going to be used, though, is for the pop ups and maybe the antenna, if I add one.
This is just a prototype, final "product" will be smooth like it was from thw factory

Sooo my original plan was to install the Robins glass/defrost soft top i bought...but then I found a guy 1-1/2 hours away selling a black top with zippered glass already on the frame for $200...about half what i paid for the vinyl top alone. Only took us about an hour to take my old frame/top off and put the new one on. Not bad at all! and now i can resell my unused brand new top and make money back. Win/Win! Installed my old man suspension setup and so far so good! Went with the fm vmaxx classic coilovers with nb mounts. Such a big difference in ride comfort compared to my jic's Attachment 13961
Better or worse? They're quite crashy at low speed over square bumps.
Comfort wise they are more.comfy. My jic's were monotubes with 12/9 rates, which rode well but extremely stiff on the street. I'm enjoying the ride now and that's exactly what I wanted. I only have about 30 miles of them so I can't report in on the quirks of them yet, but I'm not expecting them to be great like a xida or ohlin's setup.
I run them too and i'm very happy with them. Been on for about 1000 miles. I've even jumped with them (whoops) and they're holding up :D
Very good value for money. First trackday with them in about a week.

I have to round the corners because it's just a square cut for now, sand it, and get that big yellow support out of there this weekend. It got dark too quickly to do it all today
Installed some.steering rack spacers and got the car aligned. Haven't had a chance to take it on a long drive yet
Bought some tires.
"Are those gonna fit in there?"
"I don't' even need to pop the trunk."

Speaking of trunk, I installed some LEDs in mine!!!

After 4 hours of back-breaking work, got the rollbar on by myself, just needed someone to hold the bolts up top while i wrenched them down under the car.
Took me an hour to get the old style bar off because I didnt realize there was a hidden nut/bolt on each side. I found it after an hour of beating and trying to cut the style bar...oh well.
This coming week i will be installing the front splitter and canards, just in time for my club's car show next Sunday.
Don't mind the filthy car, it's covered in pollen and i was too exhausted to wash it afterwards.
Also realized i'm missing a bolt on the seatbelt tower, but I will do that tomorrow.

Bedded the pads in my new FM LBBK, still trying to clean all the dust. I'll have to remember to use the track wheels next time.

Not something I did, but dropped the car to the body shop to fix my rusted sills. So excited :D
I made sure my clutch wasn't slipping...

Got the front splitter on last night. After stripping a sway bar bushing bolt and then having issues with the splitter support rods, finally got it done lol. But now i have to go back to Home Depot today to get a shorter L bracket to bolt the support rods to up higher. Had to ziptie it for now to get home lol. Splitter didn't scrape any with the zipties supporting it, but i'm afraid my car might be too low for this splitter haha. Will be hitting up Home Depot after work today.
I might have to change my front lip to an R-package lip so it will sit higher off the ground. We'll see how this works.

Installed Revlimter lenses and a new to me wood wheel. The Batman horn is just a joke till I find something I like.
The wheel is in awesome shape but I don't know much about it. Has made in Italy stamped on the back but no manufacture.

Sure looks like one. The nicest looking wooden shift knob imho.

Is that a Moto Lita shift knob?
That is a Moto-Lita shift knob. I was saving up for a Moto-lita steering wheel when I won the auction (dirt cheep) for this new wheel.
Still planing to get a wood Moto-Lita wheel.
Today i added a bottle of fuel systems cleaner and also once again i replaced the vacume cap at rear of the intake manifold. Im getting pretty tired of that cap foing bad every two months. I am one step away from applying jb weld on it and forgetting about it. Anyone know if that vacume is used for anything other than automat8c transmission ?

Finally did an SCCA event. It was so much fun hope to go again.
Installed these the other day. Such a great looking set of gauges. Finally got them mounted in the car last night. Tach needle is a little off but I'm not going to change it until I get a better gauge panel. Pic of them fully installed will come later.

Just received this photo in facebook. Couldn't be happier. I'm without my car for a week now, and I miss driving it.
Edit: well the title is What did YOU do to your na, but I think it suggests also stuff that happened to your NA. If my post doesn't fit the thread, I can post it in my build thread too, just let me know :)

Finished this up today with the gauge hood.
Well I didn't do this today, it was a few weeks ago. Our local Miata Club had a Garage Tech day so we could work on our cars and help fellow members work on theirs and we installed the Runabout Type 2 Fuel Lid that I bought from Yahoo Japan, some Retro Hazard switches and a Sterling HVAC panel both from Adam at Revlimiter.http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...pskscidm94.jpg

Now Rooster's HVAC panel matches his Sterling gauges as well as both the Window switch set matches the Hazard switches.
Nice!
I gave mine a bath and cleaned the inside so its like a new car all over again :)

I'm just taking mine apart Attachment 14214
