I don't have anything to kick this thread off this year but since I started it for 2018 I figured I would start it again this year! Some one has surely done something to their NB or bought something for it in the past 3 days....

I some xmas decorations in it since I'm unable to climb a ladder to put them away. :/
I hope everybody's year is going batter than mine. I have been arguing with insurance companies over my NB's value since it got totaled on Dec 23. So frustrating to have had many decent upgrades and now be told that they don't matter. Even gave them a list with descriptions and pricing. One more call denying me and a lawyer gets called....just want to be able to replace it with something close to what I had in condition and reliability....
@RandolphB: Sorry to hear. If this is your insurance it is time for a new provider. If it isn't and you carry full coverage then see what they will do. I had to do this on a EG Civic Si as the at fault individual was evading his insurance company but at first even my insurance wasn't offering me enough as it had a B16A2 swap.
The insurance has to give you "fair market trade value" or in other words what it would cost to buy that car in similar condition/modifications. I ended up getting about $500 more than I paid so I think it was a fair amount.
I have Progressive(over 10 yrs now) and they have a option to add up to $8k in additional coverage for aftermarket parts but must have receipts and can do more but at that point you have to do a declared value.
Company is Allstate. No longer have receipts, as they were lost in a flood back in California along with a lot of other stuff stored in my garage. I do have a list of all parts and pricing I kept in my computer all along. Adjuster explained to me that they don't cover anything they consider a "Speed" part because they don't allow racing. He also explained how my policy means the fine print limits a lot of things they pay for, and told me to go to the other guy's company (they took blame) as I am not trapped by the fine print with them. They came up with a value of only $3000.00 because they found 2 in the state of the same year. Of course, no leather interior, no power windows and no other rather long list of even basic features. I asked, "Then it's not really a replacement, is it?". Tomorrow I start the process all over with Traveler's, and if I get no satisfaction I will get a lawyer.......all I want is enough to match the basic features and condition of the car. Mine had a low mile engine and lots of new parts. Paint was rough, but literally had already ordered paint to do the repairs- and it showed up 4 days after the wreck. Will probably look into a different company afterwards, but have had endless bad luck since moving back to Florida some years ago.
Randolph...helped a friend remotely going through the same thing with his NA. He was trying to get fair market, provided receipts, etc. and they blocked him at most every turn. The goal was to break-even on the car, as a stock unit, but also get the car back so he could remove a lot of the add-ons he put in it (rollbar, wheels, suspension, etc.). It was a long process, but he got a decent value on the car, bout it back, and started stripping off the extra parts. It's frustrating for sure, but the values on Miatas are ALL over the place. The at-fault driver's insurer was requiring my friend to provide DEALERSHIP values of '94 Miatas in his area...which is ludicrous. Receipts he couldn't find, he reached out to the vendors from confirmation emails sent after purchase. A lot of them were really helpful to email him duplicate invoices for the stuff he purchased.
I've gone through the process of reduced payoff/ retain title on two other cars. Striped the old one for the replacement one...but am thinking a great deal of what was added is under the hood- and crushed. So far I am getting the "We found a '99 at a dealer 150 miles away...you could get it!" approach. I doubt anyone would have receipts for things I bought 10 to 15 years ago also. So I am stuck there. In the end, my car was highly reliable, with just small maintenance issues to cover for the next 100,000 miles. I knew every inch of the car and had planned against that for other issues in life I would rather spend money on. Losing it means I lost all my reliability and destroys that budgeting...so my sights are focused mainly on that in a replacement chassis. Prices are stupid from one extreme to the other here in Florida! Lately all I see are automatics- and that is certainly not a replacement for a Miata with a manual.......!
Bathed, fueled and joy rode her yesterday. :lol:Attachment 19768
Gas money is the best money spent on any car.
Average gas price here is approx 1.7$/litre, which is almost 4 times more expensive.
and gas is not the biggest cost of owning a car. :)
Hard Dog roll bar, and Lotus seats :) Next up... installation.
Ummm. Doesn't this look a little low for NB side winkers installAttachment 19923
Yes it does. But Killer wheels man i have a set waiting to go on.
I actually have the time to get these installed but I can't find anyone that has the measurements for where to place them on the NB fender
I think I may have found an answer. 170 mm forward of the fender edge, and 65 mm up from the lower body line.
Please tell me if it looks right before I fire up the drill
Attachment 19929
Send me a message if you haven't drilled yet, i can measure an EUDM panel.
If you could, that would be awesome!
Second pic, looks right to me too, Tony.
Let's get this up to the top so people post in here properly (not that that has stopped anyone on this forum before...).
I bought a new Supermiata QMAX reroute kit from someone I know who didn't use it. All I plan on using is the thermostat housing (I checked but 949 won't sell individual parts from the kit). The one I bought works fine but since I installed a new sensor and the gasket on it fell apart, I have been having trouble getting a good seal. If you check my build thread you can see what I have done to try to make it work. The QMAX is configured so the sensor fits nicely with plenty of room for a factory gasket. One less thing to worry about for the future.
I finally put the thing back together, charged the battery, and drove it to work. So many projects that I almost forgot that I had this car. Still need to install the under skirts, side skirts, and get a working window switch. Obviously it is hard to compare before/after with the Frog Bar install. The last time I drove the car was October-ish. The front end does feel good, though. Also the side winkers are lovely.
Mmmm...I too want sidemarkers. For now...it's cut cut cut cut...make test panels...cut cut cut. Slow and steady.

Nice progress. Flat nb panels are something I've always wanted to work out. Think I'm going to get Madison ready for sale. and use that money to get the 76 c-10 running again.
Seems we think alike, a LOT. :) Bold move on the dash cut, I would not want to mess with something irreversible, and dashes are harder to swap than door cards. Looks good, cannot wait to see the end result!
At this point I was like screw it. It's true dashes are hard to replace compared to everything else... but as now a dad of 2... I find that several small projects are easier to do than a few BIG projects. I'd like to get into boost in a year or 2... but for now, the only way I get my "tinker itch" scratched in the near term... is this :D
I'm looking forward to seeing how your dash turns out. I chopped the hell out of mine a while ago. I love seeing others who are willing to make "it can't be put back to stock" mods to their cars. Why worry about resale value the all the time? Enjoy your car your way!
What is your plan for the center console delete? Making a cover, buying one, installing new carpet?
To keep with the theme of the thread... (sort of.)
Not a "what I've done," but a "what I'm about to do." The Man in Brown had left this for me 2 days ago:
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f8465e4e_k.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1bad5a15_k.jpg
Unfortunately, I won't get a chance to install them until next week
In my case, it is not reselling that bugs me, as it is a "forever car" as Adam once said. It is the fact that I have caught myself drooling over bone-stock Miatas in good condition, and the fact that taste changes so I may wanna get back to that point eventually.
the ONLY reason I'm selling out is that I have way more projects than I have garage/driveway space. Hopefully, I'll get Maddy sold, then get the c10 running and sold, then have fun with the 4runner. Will possibly look into an ND after the Subaru goes back to the dealership. I'm VERY glad I leased that car, TBH.
Installed a Blackbird Fabworx Black Edition lexan spoiler on Misfire this weekend.

Finally detailed my car for once.

Damn that's clean Jammers. Car has been neglected for a while now.....a detail is in order. So are those eyelids.

Time to put the front hub questions to rest on this car.
New front hub arrived, so did the dust caps. Swapped the studs in 20 minutes.

Sent it. 30 minutes later I had it swapped out, including cleaning and greasing the caliper slides. It’s Africa hot today, so I’m cooling off before I do the other side.

Bought most of the parts to get her back to stock-ish. Still no hood or wheel. I may be giving away the rare. Whatever, it's a car, I've got others, it won't be the last Miata in the stable.
I still need to get the old adhesive off of the car body and side sills. Everything that I have tried has been a fail. May have to pony up for a rubber wheel
May be interested in the hood, if you’re looking. I know my hood doesn’t match your color, but just throwing it out there.
i'll keep it in mind. Almost have this townhome rented, which should free up a corner of my plate. It's been a hellacious 9 months of trouble.
Drove the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval on Saturday. First evening session, under the lights, about to enter the front chicane.

Drove Atlanta Motorsports Park. This was Miatas Before the Gap. KMiata brought some wicked-fast machines!

I really like the red numbers on your car; sporty yet simple and elegant! Glad to see it being properly used too!
I started tearing down my new 1.8 engine on Thursday. Really pleased with its condition so far. Unfortunately next update is gonna take a while as I stumbled and fell, fracturing my elbow and dislocating my knuckle..
Thanks, Harry! Sorry to hear about the injuries, I hope it doesn’t put a damper on the rest of your summer. :(
It’s happening.

Oh that's gonna make a sweet sweet color combo!!
Steven, 15x9?
X8. With my springs and power, plus usage, 205 is the widest I’ll run.
The most FedEx-iest thing happened. One pair arrived early, today actually, the other pair will arrive Monday. :|
Still, daaaamn:

Damn, craving an iced mocha latte right about now!
I gotta grab a picture of my NB and your side by side. Damn near the same.
Removed my FSB bushings, thought they were the source of some front end noise. Confirmed, they were drier than Agent Orange’s mouth the day after dollar Pabst night at the bowling alley. Re-lubed, reinstalled.
Getting the tires moved to the new wheels tomorrow, sneak peak:
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...cf1131cdb0.jpg
What tires are you going to run? For your Xidas, was it tires over 200 TW?
Just transferring over my Contis. They have been wonderful for dual-use.
I sold the old wheels in less than 4 hours, lol!
I ordered new CPS sensors as preventative maintenance (NTK, cam and crank), will keep the old ones in my tool roll in the car as known good spares.
Flushed the brakes with Motul RBF 660, a 2-day Road Atlanta event looms ahead.
Went to Pepboys...spent $40. 10 minutes later...my a/c blows cold again. It's been about 5 years. Why I hadn't done this sooner? Who knows. I did it when I first bought the car...but I found a shop to do it for the same price. Either way, it's nice to be able to drive with the tinted windows up in this sun. No where as cold as our 4runner, but it'll be nice to drive with the windows up again. My car's slowly becoming a car again.
I did that to mine when I bought it. I knew the system was weak, but it still lasted through the summer before it lost its charge in autumn.
I found the corroded line in the evaporator when I went through the seals the following spring. That surprised me, but I was glad I was that thorough because that would have been a hard leak to locate otherwise.
Put ~1" long piece of electrical tape on top of each eyeball. No more droop!
Spent the weekend at Road Atlanta.
The new control tower in the background.

Any difference with the wheels?
the car is looking great!!
New wheels are a little more predictable over uneven tarmac, less trammelining. I expected that, with them being tucked 11mm per side.
Repainted the lip. Went for a drive through the hills with my buddy. Always nice to take a trip to break the monotony of commuting.

NICE!
I made a front splitter from some leftover ABS I had in the garage. Mostly, it's to protect the leading edge of my bumper from grinding on the concrete now that my car sits lower since installing my Zeta CRDs.
While I was at it, I added a red stripe to the lower edges of the bumper and side skirts.

@anrandol: So jealous! Absolutely love the GRP lights!!!:slayer: Anthony can you please start a build thread already? Is that a Panos fastback?
Looks like a GV, from the rear middle section alone. First time I see these lights, they look really cool! I will second Chad on the build thread request ;)
EDIT: Just googled them and realized why I have never seen them before. Would make for an awesome retro-modern look!
Confirmed gv top. I always told myself that I'd eventually do a build thread, but just haven't mustered the energy to do one. Ill continue to post here and there to showcase the sloowwwwwww progress.
Scotty with Spinnywhoosh put them on his Carbon Miata NA taillight panel and they look incredible!
As soon as I saw them they became my "ultimate taillight configuration" with either the Carbon Miata or GV taillight housings but at around $1k+ when said and done for it all. :gonk:
Ya after looking closer I figured it was a GV top.
PLEASE DO!:slayer::popcorn:
