Finally got all the kinks out of my maxim installation. O2 sensor is in... custom fitted cat. Sounds absolutely spectacular.
Will need to take video of the finished product.
Riceland for over two years now. I've had it off and back on at least 5 times. Doesn't look the greatest at the rear flange ( dark grey color ) but for the price and performance I can't complain. Shes seem to have no issues handling the new power and higher revs,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so.....every month I get out of her is $$$ saved.
Maxim works with 2.5" custom stainless, pie cut exhaust with a kooks racing muffler and a magnaflow oval muffler.

Sorry to thread jack but I figured everyone in this thread would know. With a header install what gasket is everyone using and is anything needed to support this mod like tuning or anything else?
I wouldn't bother with a tune. Its bolt on (depending if its jdm or usdm header). Only get a tune if you really want to if youre itb or supercharged.
I've got a mazdaspeed sitting waiting to go on once I get a new cat for it.
On a side note, if you have a used header that's has the normal baked on dirt and crap what is the best product to use to clean it to make it look more presentable?
from my build thread:
What's everyone using for a gasket? The one that comes with header or a new oem one?
i used an OEM one for my Racing Beat header.
I used the one one. No issues.
Plus it was caked on.

just installed my raceland 1.6 header. hit with some vodka before install. looks really good. actually starting to get bit of blue/purple shine on top of the gold. burnt titanium headers!
What's the best header options for a 96 1.8? I know Jackson Racing makes one but I'm not sure about fitment of the Raceland for a 96.
I have heard of fitment struggles with the OBX headers. If you want something solid, the RacingBeat header s tough to beat. There isn't much noticeable power difference among them. I know Emilio@949 Racing put up some dyno numbers comparing a few vaunted brands, it was negligible (price vs power).

I installed an obx in my 93 miata with 1.8 swap. Also helped a friend install a raceland on a 90 with 1.8 swap. And both of them were a complete pain to install. After install the obx was hitting the transmission tunnel and both the tunnel and header had to be bent to stop them from rubbing on eachother.
