JDM/EDM NB 1.6 question

Hey everyone,
So i'm hoping someone on here has enough experience with the JDM/EDM NB 1.6 engine to answer a question.

I'm trying to find out if these particular 1.6 engines were equiped with a MBSP like the later 1.8 engines.

I know that for these 1.6 engines, Mazda did make some changes to make them better, such as the change of intake manifold design, the use of the 1.8 throttle body, the same lifters as the 1.8s and the front cam sensor.

I was hoping that along with these changes, that Mazda may have decided to incorporate a MBSP to this engine as well. I figure this would have also needed a change in oil pan possibly.

If anyone can help answer this and maybe even supply some pictures, this would be great.

I am 99% sure the only Miata engines with MBSP are the VVT 1.8 ones. That being said, I have not taken mine apart or even wondered about it so I may be wrong.

I have not taken one apart either, but it doesn't have the MBSP oil pan/engine mounts.
