Wish for a race focused hardcore edition with extra space in the cabin. :)
Well I guess I need to start saving my pennies.
Very interested in one. Hoping that they offer it in both models, ST & RF.
If it's only in RF form, then keeping fingers crossed that they produce this "drop-head" coupe concept, with carbon removable hardtop.

Did someone say orange?
Tempt me with the orange! But I've been looking for a new paint code for my NA too.
Just a few minutes until the reveal!

Looks like RF and soft-top. Making 3000 of them, only 500 destined for the US! Lottery, anyone?
So tempting. I prefer the BBS over these Rays though...

Damn, that would make for a perfect Agent Orange!
Maybe we've seen this before. ;) Mockup designs I did for 949Racing in 2015....

Not only is Jesus a Miata Owner and Kung Fu Master he is also a part time graphic designer.
Freelance industrial designer, thank you very much.
Rant.....
So it has different paint? That makes it Limited? You can get a wrap cheaper.
Too much hype on this car. Weak offset stockish looking wheels some small amounts of orange in the interior, orange brakes and suade seats? That’s it? Pfffft.
It should have come with a turbo like the Mazdaspeed models.
Mazda should have looked back at some of their other models for ideas, not impressed
And 949 did it first lol. So much for originality
/rant
Colors and packages are historically what makes the SE/LEs different on the Miatas. As an LE owner, you already know that. ;) The 2019 model already received a significant bump in power. Recaros, LSD, Bilsteins (in the manual), Brembos, it seems more like a Club Sport as they intended.
You may also be interested in the other piece of info they dropped; more parts will be available in June for NA restorations. Curious to hear what that will bring.
Can agree. color on the anniversary's has always been the unique offset from regular Miatas. But I feel there could be a few more personal touches by there in house design team AKA Mazdaspeed. An optional Mazdaspeed exhaust or even the suspension bracing would be a nice touch. I just feel new Mazdaspeed now is a name or status. I own the proof that Mazdaspeed has potential in doing something amazing with there future vehicles.
The days of OE's slapping turbos or special engines in limited run cars is coming to an end. It costs way too much for design and testing in this thin-profit time frame. If they can't past the premium onto the collectors.....errr buyers its not going to happen. People already complain about how much well optioned ND's cost. Add another 10k-15k for a special engine/transmission package that you're only make a few thousand off and most people are going to scoff, buy a base model, and modify it how they want.
Ford/GM/Dodge get away with it because they charge a premium knowing many buyers of the GT500/1LE/Demons are investors and are willing to gamble that their high purchase price is going to to turn a profit when the supply runs out.
Im just saying for this model, for me, IMHO it is a LACK of vision from Mazda, like they rushed it, like last minute, (oh wait its the miatas 30th anniversary, make something real quick will ya) , they needed to make something like the G-Limited Roadster was in Japan, the paint on this is okay but if you want racy paint back it up with some carbon fiber parts in the interior, and some cool aero stuff, and since retro is back have come with Exclusive wheels Like some nice 5-spoke Racing Hart, with polished lips, and some Nardi shifter, parking brake, and MOMO air-bagged wheel, and maybe some lightweight racing MOMO, or Recaro branded seats. That would have made me go into the dealership to look and buy one. They need to go after the 40 ~ 50 year olds
The wheels look just like the Stock ND's doo doo wheels, there is not much else other than Orange paint. And honestly it should have been YELLOW paint, because that is a color that is just as flashy (if that is what they are going for) and has been on EVERY generation Miata! NA, NB, and NC.
Some other notables:
NB NR-A Roadster (everything was custom on this model)

The Mazdaspeed Miatas had Racing Hart Wheels, Turbo, Red Seats, areo package.
Mazda Eunos RS-Limited
1991 BRG V-Spec in Japan a Historic color although not much for options it had Nardi Shifter, Nardi Parking Brake, and Matching MOMO Wood Steering Wheel (on Japan Model).
1993 LE RED Interior, BBS Wheels, Nardi Shift Knob, and MOMO steering Wheel (on Japan model)
1995 M-Edition Exclusive Paint Color, Nardi Shifter, Different Seats, BBS Wheels, MOMO steering wheel (on Japan model)
M2-Corporation Cars (dont get me started) http://mazdaroadster.net/showthread....2-1006-M2-1008
Randy I cant agree more, Mazda really has been lacking. Grant it the RF with the Track Pack does look sick but it has BBS wheels, BILSTEIN shocks and BREMBO brakes and RECARO seats. All these parts are really cool but Mazda did all that years ago and could easily do it again. Most of us own all the OG Mazdaspeed stuff from years ago.
Just look at what Mazda once was, putting 7 point cages into there Mazdaspeed cars and making select one off parts. Every time I drive my Eunos it feels like a movie from the straight cut gears to the supercharger wining now that to me is something special and worthy of the markup.

+1 to MaRcO’s last post.
Mazda always seems to piss on my chips when they release Ltd Ed cars. They’re not like the Spirit R or Mazdaspeed series anymore. Make changes like Porsche did back in the day that the end user honestly couldn’t achieve without a ridiculous wallet; lighter panels, sheet metal, lighter glass, forged internals, etc. A car that weighs 30/40kg lighter by unconventional methods makes it much harder to replicate, which makes it’s uniqueness more desirable. If I can get the same “lighter” bits from FM, what’s the point?
It doesn’t have to be boosted to be original. I’m not a fan of boosted miata’s as they tend to need a lot of finesse to work, just slapping more power on can ruin the balance. Super chargers less so obviously...
A one-piece exotic alloy exhaust is even something.
Ltd run and AE cars don’t need to pull in a profit, they’re a celebration model bragging about the car’s legacy and continuos success. Something the Japanese aren’t very good at displaying.
On a positive note, they’re very humble...
^boom, that.
Niche segment car made ever niche-ier ( :) ) doesn't make sense. You add 5, even 8 to 10k to the price of the Miata, you're getting out of the segment territory and you're battling other sports cars. Even in the reveal, the speaker made a point to recognize the Miata as a modifiable vehicle. The aftermarket does it better, look at how crummy the MSMs are.
I think Mazda should have worked closer with the aftermarket to create a very special car, especially visually. They could have negotiated low component prices for the 500 cars while offering to sell the same parts through their dealerships. These halo cars could boost the brand while keeping enthusiasts engaged. Enthusiasts then would need to visit the dealer to get the special edition clone parts to modify their car. Win, win, win. The 500 special edition car that are sold can remain special because they have the plaque & registration.
I will leave this here for inspiration. I know it inspires me to follow the brand.

So this past weekend I went to the 12 Hours of Sebring and got to see the 30AE in person. I really really dig the Orange it is super over the top but it works and this was number 0 of 3000 which felt really cool to see.

Why did they make the 30AE an off road edition?
:p
Sonny and I picked our 30AE's last week. Chance Asue at Tustin Mazda took care of us. I have to say, I think Sonny's RF is that extra bit sexier than my ST.
Neither will be significantly modded. Both of us have many experience with trying to make a comfy street car also work on track like a race car. We always end up with something that does neither well. Besides, we have a min-fleet of race cars and fast HPDE cars here to drive. So yeah, these are both destined for daily life.
Trying to talk Sonny into some Eibach springs that will drop it about .8". I plan to install the original Xida ACE protos with an updated harness for the new touchscreen controller. Sonny maybe 17x8 6UL's. I plan to run 245/40 Conti ECS on 17x9 Charcoal 6UL. OFT reflash for mine as soon as Shiv has the ND2 tune finalized. Mine will stay otherwise stock. Oh yeah, Sonny doing some clear bra with his room mate that knows how to lay vinyl. I'm going big with full ceramic pro, clear bra but doing full paint correction (wet sand, etc) first.
Driving both, ST definitely has more jiggle than the RF. Club Bilsteins have too much high speed compression, or maybe it's too little N2O volume. RF jiggles less or rough pavement with top down. RF top up feels pretty much like a coupe, super solid and jiggle all but disappears.
Mine. Didn't let dealer wash it or attach front plate.

Smart move on the not modifying much. I wouldn't have either, if I were in your shoes as you said plenty others to pick from why mess with these. I do have to ask though, why wouldn't you let the dealer wash the car? Just curious.
Did not want them to scratch the paint. The porters are not exactly detailers.
It’s lovely. I do hope a removable hardtop is available for this model at some point.
Got them both together for a few pics at Aerowerkz. Picking my soft top after paint correction, Ceramic Pro and clear bra plus some selected black vinyl graphics treatments. See if you can spot them.
Sonny's RF get much the same.

So....much....orange! Can’t resist!
Installed Xida ACE with 300/150 rates, roughly 50% higher spring rate than OEM. Lowered 30mm. OEM sways and everything else. No plans to track or even autocross it. It is such a sublime daily driver. Had it for about a month now, top has not been up once :)
17x9 6UL Charcoal, 245/40 Conti ECS. Going to try a Racing Beat muffler. OEM is actually too quiet. I don't want loud but would at least like to hear exhaust over wind noise at WOT.
OFT reflash once motor is broken in. Add Paco seat lowering brackets and our steering spacer. Will add a carbon rear spoiler proto we made few years back along with a Vary front lip. That's pretty much it.

I dig the subtle rocker panel treatment
I want to see one of those with cup stripes in silver.

This is the list of the mods to my 30AE. My '16 Club has most of the same mods except it has a BBR Turbo. Other than a turbo for the 30AE both cars are just about perfect for my needs.
Done:
RoadsterSport Race axle back exhaust
Weathertech floor mats
Stubby antenna
FM Stage 2 Koni suspension including sway bars
Clear bra full bumper, hood, fenders, rocker panels, windshield surrounds
Tossed the sound tube
Install Hood struts
Install Club type splitter
Install louder horns
Hard wire Escort radar detector
Alignment
30AE plaque for passenger air bag light panel
New bronze wheels and tires and put borrowed bronze wheels back on the Club
Orange windshield surrounds
Infotainment center sun visor
Black nose badge
Smoked side repeaters
Sequential rear turn signals
To do:
BBR turbo whenever they get the new version out
love this color, saw one in person and really wish they had offered this color on prior model miatas, its a real beauty
Well well...I have not been over here on this Forum in quite some time...but I remembered my password!!

AgentOrange needs ones................
Over $45,000???
https://carsandbids.com/auctions/9eG...ersary-edition
hahahahahahahha every new and used car is WAY overpriced right now. 45K you could buy, or use to be able to buy a used Dodge Viper for that kinda money. No way in hell I would pay $45K for a miata, that is just plain nutz.
