ROTARY ENGINE RETURNS

Mazda has confirmed that it will launch two new electric vehicles in 2020—one powered purely by a battery and the other featuring a rotary engine as a range extender. The small rotary unit will recharge the battery when required, eliminating range anxiety. The rotary engine’s small size and high power output make it an ideal candidate for use in electrified vehicles. Battery EVs are expected to make up five percent of total global Mazda sales by the year 2030, as part of its “Sustainable Zoom-Zoom” strategy.
