How did you get the timing belt off the cam sprockets without releasing the tensioner? Just pull it off?
Possibly a stupid question, but why would you want to?
Why not buy a NB2 and be done with it?
Seems a lot of trouble to me.
It passes CA smog? I don't know how much you should ask, but at the right price you will have no trouble selling it, and probably pretty locally, which is a little less hassle if there are a number...
Yeah, I bet you that on the Isle Of Man he can't find an upholsterer ready to customize seat belts.
The start of that filling process is to remove the window switches. Which I tried to do and got nothing but damaged plastic. 17 year old plastic seems a bit brittle. I could not get my...
Good idea. I attended my local enthusiasts' meet for the first time Friday. Not a large turnout due to the cold and Christmas. The vast majority of cars were NAs. There was a very crisp...
I need to assume that the trans is full. I had the fluids replaced with the Motorcraft synthetic by my shop. I'm pretty confident that they filled it up.
I'll run that test on the clutch...
Well, it has been about 6 weeks and the oil DID improve the shift somewhat. The tranny can now be said to snick rather than crash, and that is an improvement. I am learning to shift slowly...
Jon,
When does the meet begin and when does it break up?
It is a bit of a drive for me.
Too much of a not very good thing.
Go figure. Turns out the nut on my new stainless steel clutch line requires an 11mm flair wrench. The three wrench kit that I just bought goes from ten to twelve. In Spinal Tap they go from...
I'd be thrilled if you would occasionally meet in the San Fernando Valley. Not to be too self serving, but what about Burbank?
do my existing window switches fit your console?
$186 or what ever it is is a bit to be asking for a cracked and scratched component.
Just saying.
I think we have sort of lost the point of the thread.......
Hehehhehehehhehhehe
If I'm looking at $40 for craftsman, I start to think to let my mechanic have the money and broken knuckles.
Does anyone know what size(s) of flair nut wrenches does the Miata need especially for a clutch cylinders replacement job?
I see sets of three for $7 and sets of five from Sears for $40. I like...
Shipping from Greece to the US would be hairy. And I need a parchment console, which rather limits my choices.
How much work is it to fit an NB2 center console into an NB1?
Are the cup holders really that much better? Not that it would take much to beat the NB1 holders which really disappoint.
Man,...
Thanks everybody, all good stuff.
Which I imagine applies equally to NAs.
I have only two books on Miatas: the Haynes manual, and Tanner's Find it. Fix it. Trick it.
Tanner recommends lifting the front of the car by the...
Wasn't trying to impress anyone. I just like a tidy engine bay. And damned right they made a lot of them. I rarely noticed them until I bought one, now they seem to be all over the place.
Thanks. I know the shifter bushing is still tight, and that makes me happy. Not as happy as finding no rust when the car went up on the grease rack, but happy.
OK, I'll read the repair manual...
I knew I had seen something about the clutch in the PO's records: The switch has been replaced. That must be a pig to get at.
Yes, as I wrote above, I know that. What I am asking for is someone with similar symptoms as mine finding the solution in adjusting the clutch, and hopefully, some comments on how to do so.
